So something funny happened. I bought the old 1/100 Altron specifically so I could give its Dragon Fang to the EW Shenlong because I hate the stupid mess it came with and much prefer the classic Dragon Fangs. It actually worked perfectly and I'll probably finish it this week. But that meant I had basically a whole kit just lying around, minus only one Dragon Fang and the extending arms, until I figured out I could take the leftover segments and just make two normal-sized arms. So now I have an Altron with one DF and no extendo-arms, and I actually kinda... like it?

Like, it's an old, rickety, kinda shitty kit, but it's big and doofy and chunky. It gives me the same visual vibes as old Brave DXs with its oversized head and less dynamic proportions, and I'm nostalgic for the old MSIA Altron I had as a kid. I might honestly pick up the Deathscythe Hell and Wing Zero one day purely out of nostalgia for that line. Plus the RDs are too expensive. (and aside from Wing Zero, who I already have, I don't particularly love Altron or Deathscythe Hell)

Lord knows we won't be getting any proper 1/100s of those designs any time soon.

Neat. Show progress when you can!

Spits and Giggles I wrote to Blue Fin last week asking about their plans for expanding the P.Bandai market and asking in particular for the Double Fin Funnel Set, and their response was typical. "We have plans to continue releasing exclusives. Please see our social media pages for future updates."
..... and yet I avoid Twitter and Facebook like the plague.

That's neat. I don't think there's such thing as a completely terrible kit however; Even with a kit that's like from the 80's or 90's which are admittedly pretty bad by today's standard, as long as there's enough effort and care put into the kit itself, the kit itself can still be nice and shelf-worthy. This is probably why I'm a bit fascinated with dated kits like the HG Gundam Tristan in a "so bad it's good" way, and I'm Curious to see what enthusiasts can do with such a kit and make them look awesome.

evil twin progress. arms and weaponry complete, need to make the legs now. gave the 90mm rifle to GM Custom to dual-wield while taking the beam rifle of Ez8 since Shiro prefers the 30mm

base is from my Bandai 1/12 Grevious kit, it was meant to attach to his waist but it sucked ass so now Grevious uses an AB2 with a fork adapter

I agree. Properly painted, with the seams filled and loose parts glued, it could be a pretty great display piece with a nice retro look. Plus I can "play" with it in ways you can't really handle an MG. It's more a toy than model, and there's advantages there.

Little work tonight to finish where I left off two nights ago.

Molded pistons from the back of the thighs are painted, detailed, and...

Almost never to be seen again.... hmm, but it is there! Quadreceps piston sleeve is painted and in place. Next time the lower legs and then the knee to bring this all together.

Maaan, now I want to work on the F90Y in my backlog... Cause I'm pretty sure it shares few if any major components with a standard F90.

Man I wanted the F90Y back in the day. Saw it for the longest time at a local hobby shop in a mall that my family visited a lot; tried to get my parents to buy it for me, but to no avail.

I think I had mentioned that my brother and I had the old-school 1/100 F90 V-Type and F90-II L-Type back in the day.
I was never too attached to the F90 (especially in V-Type, since it felt like a knock-off F91, which, technically it was, since it was the prototype), but if they make an MG F90-II L-Type (not too fond of the I-Type), I'm soooo getting my hands on that.

Ordered one of those 30 MM Altos. Looking forward to checking these things out, I'm gonna have to get some of those expansions later though.

Aren't the full color P-Bandai boxes usually the ones that get brought over, kinda like the Turn Red or Avalanche Exia?

It's funny you guys say that. Around the year 2000, I had built my first kit as an "adult" (ie, tried my best to sand, paint and panel-line); it was a 1/100 Wing Zero.
Was pretty proud of it at the time, but obviously, as years went on, I would look back on that kit and tell myself "I could do better now". So that's exactly what I did in 2010: I bought another 1/100 Wing Zero and wanted to see how much better I could mod it to become.

(left is always my 2000 kit, right is always my 2010 kit)

Funny, now that it's almost 10 years since my remake, I look back on that one now and tell myself "I could do better now".
Almost tempted to get another one and make it an "every 10 years" kind of build, but I'd pretty much rather just get the MG Wing Proto Zero instead... We'll see next year, I guess.

I know but that's not the case with this one. They made no mention of it coming to the US but for what they're doing with it is going to be ungodly expensive for US builders unless Blue Fin decides they will sell it.
I want this kit, yes, but I am not going Completionist with its A-Z expansions. First of all, not really enthusiastic about the ones they revealed so far, but at least F90 is an impressive stand alone Gundam that would be fine without them.
Regardless, even though they are being sold as pairs, their cost is around $40USD each.. multiply that by 13 (if it reaches that point) and add the insulting mark up price for the F90 of $80USD, this officially becomes the most expensive Master Grade Gundam Bandai has ever made.

Speaking of mecha games, anyone here play Front Mission? Not counting Evolved, I love the series' tactical RPG and serial storytelling feel. Really sucks that half the series was never localized in English.

i've been playing PS1 FM3 every so often since i got it new back around 1999/2000 or so.

    i just recently made another playthrough, about 8 mos./year-or-so ago, both story paths, back-to-back;

i'm also a huge fan of SEGA MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS "ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS/TARGET EARTH"
been a devoted, veteran player of the series since owning it's T.E. U.S. edition as a nine-year-old boy back in 1991.

while SNES ASSAULT SUITS VALKEN is one hell of a fantastic prequel,
and the PS4 remake of the MD original is a nearly-perfect Masterpiece,
Alas, IMHO, SEGA SATURN LEYNOS 2 is just simply all manner of profoundly poor Suckitude...
