I completely agree but over 30 years your prime on VHS now looks darker than he did when you were younger because of how degraded the tape has become. Prime has aged with your view of him and that's a very gradual process

You do realize what a silly hypothetical this is though, right? Not only were color TVs ubiquitous by the mid-'80s, there was also the physical toy and the comic book that showed the colors of Prime. The number of factors required for someone to meet your criteria of never seeing Prime in anything but grayscale during their childhood and being a TF fan with a nostalgia bug today are so incredibly outlandish as to render the hypothetical both nearly impossible and ridiculous as a form of argument against @MajinSin doing what he did for the reasons he stated.

Regarding the faded vhs, theres also a dvd which doesn't fade over time. Its just always going to show whatever stage the vhs was at at the time and therefore would be my most consistent reference. Being a rip of the vhs, that would further cement how the character looks in my head, and while it may not br accurate to what was intended, it is accurate to a reference and one that has been viewed infinitely more times, at least so far, that the 'correct' reference.

Regarding black and white... thats a different beast altogether. If I had a black and white tv, I would know that Prime isnt supposed to be black and white and would likely draw reference from posters and merchandise to get an idea in my head of what colour he is. Thats not the case here. Whenever I watched the movie on vhs and dvd, it didnt lead with any kind of disclaimer that the colours might be wrong. I bought into that as the definitive colours... despite them not even always being consistent, hence having an idea in your head.

But, if there were no posters or merch during my childhood and I spent 30 years with black and white as my only reference for Prime, and only recently saw the red he was intended to be' you bet your ass Id be in on that black and white one.

The only reason I spend crazy money on painted plastic and diecast is because of my inner child and what he experienced. Giving me new information regarding that doesnt dictate what I want.

 

Mine just left China today to Canada, and seriously I hope i wont be one of the disappointed members when i get my FT-29T.

I seriously cant tell if i prefer the white or pinkesh parts on the Purple Cyclonus, not sure if the lighting is making it pinker, or will it be closer to some of the other pics such as from FT or earlier pics from some member that it looks lighter and blends more with the purple then the white.

In hand the pink isn't very dark IMHO and looks quite good. In some pics it looks really saturated and intense but it really isn't to my eyes. The metallic "purple" paint however isn't all that purple in my opinion. I'd call it a violety blue. Definitely different than first version but not super purple either. And it's so metallic that it just looks really light and im not a huge fan. Still a sweet figure though.

I really hoped it would be pink plastic as opposed to painting the white plastic pink. The paint on the hands feel a tad brittle to me. Anyone else feel that way?
