I'd love to be wrong, but this doesn't look like it's going to make it to me.

This figure went from "I wish I had the Money" to; I still wish I had the Money, but not for in this figure.

He's a massive complexe shell with a transformation. His legs are on his back like Armada Unicron, and his Arms are the only part that forms part of the Planet Mode.

Speaking of Armada Unicron, I have a feeling one of the Extras will be Dead End.

The legs would only be on his back or on his chest. He's a humanoid shape huddled within a sphere. Any other configuration/placement of the legs just for transformation complexity's sake would just add more parts count.

It's the War for Cybertron Unicron, not the Siege Unicron. The WFC trilogy (let alone Generations) will still be going on when Unicron releases.

For everyone commenting about how he is handling the figure in the video, you have to keep in mind, this is not a production figure and the material it is made out of may be more fragile than a production figure. So what looks like struggling, may actually be trying to be extra careful in moving and positioning the pieces to avoid possible damage to this prototype. Generally, prototypes aren't made for consistent transformations and the chance of breakage can be pretty high.

Sure, why not? I'm happy with my Armada Unicron which is smaller than Trypticon.
I just want the accuracy that this toy has. To me, it looks like Unicron as Unicron should look wheras the Armada version always looked decent, but a little off (I was never able to get the recolors/remolds of it). There are so many toys that are out of whack and out of scale in Transformers that we have to just accept for play value. I mean...how many "Star ships" do we have in Siege right now? Shockwave has a pretty clear "bridge" on it like a Star Destroyer or whatever so he's crazy out of scale with Optimus Prime, really.

Scale simply doesn't matter to me. What does matter to me is:

    * Accuracy (or something reasonably so...like Siege manages to do. Not 100%, but the vibe is there)
    * Ease of transformation (and I'm not talking about panels or challenging design, mind you, more the fact that this takes a stand and a lazy susan to do so)
    * Price (like many others, I have a family. 300.00 is still pushing it for me, but can swing that. I can not justify 600 for plastic.)

These transformation videos have only helped me justify not buying this piece even more.

Good news; looks like you get two figures for the price of one. Pretty sure if you take off all the planet shell parts, you can have the planet mode and robot mode sitting next to each to other separately. :lol

Seriously, though, that's the most nightmarish shellformer I've ever seen.

I would rather use the money I got for Omega Supreme and a possible Scorponok (I’m just speculating). Even after buying 2 Titan class figs, I’d still have cash left over for multiple Leader class or Voyager class figs, if I were to even have the asking price for Unicron.

Well I said earlier that I really wasn’t happy with the planet kibble but it’s pretty tough to make that sphere go away entirely. It’s growing on me.

Also I finally decided that even though I’m not happy about the price and the whole crowdfunding thing, I’m willing to overlook that because I think it’s awesome that they did this project at all.

So I signed up for one last night. But I’ll be selling stuff to pay for a lot of it.

I’m living in Ontario, Canada and the bloody sales tax here is killer at 13%. The shipping actually isn’t bad at $30. But the tax and shipping added $108 USD to the price! And the Canadian dollar sucks these days so the price goes up another 33% and ended up being $908 Canadian. Holy shit. Hopefully that’s the most I’ll ever pay for a collectible. Or my wife will kill me. For real.

And this thing better have awesome quality control at the factory!!!

Edit: And what genius in marketing at Hasbro only gave us 6 weeks or whatever to come up with the cash and the payment deadline is almost the same day as the release date for MP Prime V3? The most expensive MP ever which is most likely being bought by lots of fans that would also be interested in Unicron. Extremely poor timing! OK that’s my second post for this thread and I’m done whining now. Carry on!

For those that are arguing if the Titan class figures are financial failures.............

    1. Hasbro sells the figures to retailers... both online and physical stores. if a figure is 150$ titan.. they probably sell them to the retailers for 135-140$ each... but Hasbro has already made its profit as long as the retailers buy them first.

    2. The retailers that put these on clearance are doing so at a loss .......... stores do this and use it for filing it as a loss at tax time that way the stores arent taking a huge hit.

    3. While putting them on clearance doesnt effect how much money Hasbro already made ............. it will cause the store to not buy any more of that item......... and can effect how many they purchase of the next item similar to it on down the line.

    4. There is more to it but that's bare bones oh how it works...... and I dont feel like typing forever so lol

It would be even better to get Unicron, Omega and Scorponok........... and with sites giving you options to not pay much until Unicron releases........ a year and a half from now .. people can figure out how to get all 3. (if Scorponok is indeed the next Titan for next year)

Yep, I'm surprised that Haslab isn't sending out something as a little bonus for backers in the interim. I mean, it's not hard or expensive for them to ship out Unicron stickers or magnets, maybe a 8.5x11 glossy print, or hell even a t-shirt to people periodically while they wait at least 2 years for their $600 toy to arrive. You'd be surprised at how just adding little touches like that to a campaign can attract buyers and make them feel more included in or recognized by the production and entice them to buy in.

Maybe that's something that bugs me about this campaign. The marketing feels a bit slapdash for an item that's so expensive for its intended fanbase. You would think that every week since the announcement they would hit you with something special about the toy/project. They seem to be trying to do this now with the "full transformation" video and the head reveal gimmick but it seems a bit thrown together and just lacks urgency. I'd have done, for example, a fake 80's toy commercial with it--insisting that this was the toy you always wanted and expected from 1986. Perhaps play up the "kid who always claimed he had a Unicron toy but his parents wouldn't let him take it out of the house" trope.
As mentioned above, why not reveal silly ephemera, t-shirt, or even a tiny plastic 1/200 scale Galvatron that they would send to you while you wait. Show him next to other Siege figures or Titan Class to emphasize the grandiosity. I'd get Haslab people on every major TF podcast out there touting the figure.
Instead it's: "Hey here's the figure we want you to buy. We'll get some shill online media sites to do a write up about it in the beginning and then add a few YouTube vids towards the end of the campaign.........What do you mean we are only officially at 37% funding with a little more than a week left?"

I don’t think they did themselves any favors posting this video. Looks kind of miserable.

I know this isn't probably what will happen, but what if it at least makes half of the goal and they say screw it and make it for the backers of this anyway, including any site proxy selling him anyway?
