This took a long time to complete. I had lost the drive to do anything creative and this got put on the back burner and ended up as a "bored at work" on-and-off project. The spark returned recently and I went ballistic on this. Work done: Full repaint on the purple. Painted the cannon barrel silver. Painted the inside of the cannon lens pink and silver. Painted the thighs silver, then wiped it off to leave silver in the recesses. Tinted the chest window purple/pink. Filled in all the 5mm ports (except the left arm and cannon top) with 5mm posts. Filled in the sides of the knee armor and inner thighs. Filled in the feet and added new soles. Trimmed the heels back at an angle. Sanded the handle pieces bare and hand made G1 accurate grips. Swapped the cannon hand for one from an Alternators junker. New right hand courtesy of KBB (meant for MP Sideswipe). Had to trim its length, then painted it. Painted the inside of the head silver so the light piping stood out even more. Created a site made out of clear purple plastic, and a joint from a small section of a PotP Elita-1 junker. It sits flush in bot mode, which is what I was really hoping for. The site is engraved as well. Added Reprolabels to the chest and shoulders. All in all, I finally have my perfect Generations Shockwave. The stock Siege one is awesome, but I'm a bit too picky, I guess. Anyway, on to the pics!
I saw this project from its embrionary stage and now that it is complete with a folding viewer and everything I can see the level of work and love you put into it. That's a superb work Yaujta! Now your mission is accomplished and you finally have your perfect CHUG shockwave!
Love this mold. Your colors look great. And although I’m usually not a fan of weathering, yours definitely looks better than anything Hasbro gave us. I love the gray barrel on him. I understand why Hasbro didn’t do it but the stock figure just looks too purple. The gray breaks up the gun mode very well. Any plans on using the armor parts? Not that the stock figure really needs them, but I’m just curious what you would have done with the paint job on them...
Thanks! Aww, shucks. Thanks! Glad you like it Joey! Thanks! The armor parts are with my second Shockwave. I actually have three sets of armor, so I'm thinking of making Fistfight as a companion piece.
Any tips on disassembling him that I should be weary of? I’m thinking of doing something similar to mine lol
The biggest obstacle was the chest piece, as there is a pin holding it all together. Pretty easy to pop, but it could be problematic with the clear plastic. Just be careful and it should be fine.
