Mine is the only IF figure with real issues; one of his feet is so tight that I have to use pliers to move it for transformation. I agree, he really is more of their early/transitional phase and shows it. I enjoy his alt modes for what they are but totally understand they would not be to everyone's liking. I think his bot mode is actually pretty good though, with nice articulation. I would like to see IF do an Astrotrain though, and hopefully pull it off a bit better. I don't doubt they would, their releases have been consistently stellar for a while now.

I would still get this figure even if IF did one, they fill different purposes for me.

have you tried dropping some silicone oil on his foot joint or even packing it with silicone grease. it would be fairly easy to just put a little on a toothpick and getting it in there pretty well. all it takes is a tiny turn and that should loosen his up immensely.

my megs was crazy tight to the point i thought i would break his arms off and it did wonders. the same happened when i did dai's arm flaps. now i can just flip them with no worries at all.

It's one of those things that ended up in my pile of "things to do someday" that are promptly forgotten about. I almost never transform my figures since I'm all about bot mode so I rarely think about it but you're right, it's an easy fix and I should take care of it.

Like the figure but it won't go with DX9 and Newage, which are my G1 S1 and S2.

MFT I use for G1 S3 but Astrotrain wasn't a real S3 figure in the cartoon.

Might get this one as a standalone figure.

Forgive me, but I'm not that well versed in 3rd party stuff. Will this come out relatively soon or is it like 3 years or so down the pike like Fans Toys stuff?

When MFT has prototypes this far along, usually it's anywhere from 3-9 months away. I'd say the average is 6 months.

I’m coming in pretty late to the thread here, but in addition to what you’ve stated, I also feel like MPs have a different overall presence than legends. MPs are more or less the definitive version of a character using the most advanced engineering currently available. Legends size make them a little less impressive individually but allows them to really shine when you army build. If you want a dynamic display, I think legends are the way to go.

@VenomGTSR Yes, the MP's typically have a more impressive shelf presence. As much as I've come to love Legends I still feel that the MP is my main collection, the one that fees "definitive" somehow. But even the best engineered ones are not stuff I want to handle on a daily basis. I get a little more excited in some ways for a really good Legends figure. I can always find room for them, I can pick them up off the shelf and fiddle with them and not worry (too much) about chipping paint or breaking something, etc. I can even let my kids play with them, within reason. I had to step in when they kept ramming IF Jazz into the wall like he was some sort of cheap Matchbox car though! :D  And the really good ones, like IF and NA (YMMV of course) really have great shelf presence on their own. Their sculpts have a lot of pop and character.

Astrotrain is a great example. I expect to really love FT Thomas, he'll really "tie the room together." But assuming MFT sticks the landing with this figure, I expect I'll pick up and mess with Iron Sky a lot more, and use him to nurture my kids' burgeoning interest in these things. They can still expect their shock collars to activate if they touch my MP's.

But if February falls in that six months, add two months for Chinese New Year.

Want to see alt mode photos......

Pretty sure I\'m sold already though.

Both this and Thomas are welcome in my home :)

I miss the larger tail fin on the shuttle, and more individually sculpted windows. But train and bot mode are nice. MFT has been too big for me to buy, but maybe 12 cm isn't too bad considering who he is. Let's see how well they do the deco.

I clicked onto the forum from the front page news tab. The ONLY pictures shown on that tab were robot mode.
