Hmm... I may be looking to buy an original one if anyone here wants to sell theirs after getting the "T" variant.

IF I don't like the pink parts I think I'm just going to do a little repainting on my "T" version to a very light gray. If it disassembles as easily as it sounds, should be a simple operation.

Just from memory as Im currently at work...

Head has two screws on back, one behind face. Once you get that off, neck is one screw and done.

I suspect the forearms will be the same on both (I'm hoping anyway) so I took arms from the bicep as opposed to hands and bicep parts. This was a bit of a bitch. DONT unscrew the bicep. You need to take the shoulder apart... and the bitchy part is there are two shoulder caps with screws behind them.

They are on the back of the shoulder. The top one, push one side in as far as you can and it will make a very very slight gap on the other side. Its a pain but it can pop out if you pull it out with your nail.

The lower cap, you should be able to pull from the side of his shoulder. Three screws pere shoulder then you can switch out the whole arm.

Legs are easy, just unscrew from the inner thigh. But be mindful there's a spring and ratchet ring that might fall out when you take it apart.

Lot of text but it was easy except the caps.

When I upload pics of it finished, I'll be sure you point out the caps just in case as well.

Here we go round the screen grab bush, the screen grab bush, the screen grab bush.

Here we go round the screen grab bush, until we're moderated!

Seriously though we all know how that ends. If they were freely available then we could pick and choose, personally I like the more purple body and white face etc, but I'm more than happy with the original.

Just posting screen grabs basically to say the point you're making. Either figure represents Cyclonus & neither is definitive. You cant lose with either... I'll just be holding on to the "toon" version after he arrives & likely selling the OG.

I've brought this up in other threads but it's the SHOUT! Blu ray remaster you want to use as your reference.

They went back and rescanned the original master and whilst they didn't do much in the way of cleaning up artifacts the colours are about as accurate to the original cells you will get.

When all the other sources are VHS, memories or cartoons I know which version I would treat as the most accurate

For me, the Marvel G1 comics probably define a lot of my 'ideals' of the characters, so I'd definitely opt for a nice metallic silver over the white or pink (probably on the 'ears' too!). Not sure that I'm brave enough to be doing so myself though.

If Fan Toys ever do Sovereign and Quietus in the Marvel colours, with lots of shiny Magten-quality silver on both, I'll be a happy person. Skint, but happy.

In all honesty, I may consider going with a metallic silver myself. I'm still torn between the whole tune versus original Masterpiece aesthetic. The collection has become a bit eclectic looking given where Masterpiece started out and where it's gone down the toon road. I definitely didn't care for the bright white parts on the original version of ft-29 and I'll have to decide when I get it in hand where I want to go with this more purple version.

Either way, if you're going to disassemble it to paint the pink parts and decide you would rather trade for the standard release's white parts to prevent paint scraping, my offer still stands. That goes for anyone wanting white instead of pink for ft29-t.

I really can't disagree, but it's still certain images from their run that will always define the look of a lot of these characters for me, with the TF movie picking up the gaps.
Quite a lot of the time it might even be a cover image that's moulded that ideal look for me.

I agree about that, anyway my Hot Toys War Machine pre-order just came in to stock yesterday to my surprise and I rather move the funds toward that than a second Quietus so If anyone needs one I have a sealed one for $219 shipped. Don’t all rush to PM me at once lol

Then MP-44 and Flametoys Starsaber comes in soon. This is going to be rough month. I honestly didn’t expect all of this to come in all at once :banghead:

I see your point, and obviously its down to the individual, but I'm in this hobby due to my nostalgia and how the characters have appeared to me for the past 30 years.

If I'd spent 30 years seeing Cyclonus as purple with a hint of blue and pink biceps etc... and then the bluray depicts the closest to the cells as you say and suddenly he's like... red for arguments sake with orange biceps etc... Cyclonus doesnt suddenly become that colour to me.

I didnt grow up with the original cell, I grew up with what was available all this time. I want whats most accurate to what was released, not what was intended.

On way home so I'll be able to tell you pretty soon, but based on pictures, the forearms are the same colour on both. The same colour as his rifle and knees, bright warm purple.

But you also grew up with a VHS that over time faded, or a TV which had a different hue to someone else. These things have variables which change person to person. Memory also plays a factor into that. A remastered blu ray approved by Hasbro and scanned from the original source becomes the most accurate frame of reference
