I certainly see the value in the figure for that price!

I predicted, dozens of pages back, that Unicron will line up nicely with the 3rd chapter in WFC. I have no doubts there will be figures released that work along with him. Hasbro released the barge as a crowdsource then the desert skiff, and the appropriate figures, as mass market.

The thing is, that’s a very rational way of looking at it. Something like this succeeds in part based on playing on the irrational side of human psychology. In fact, paying $600 now for a massive plastic toy that you won’t receive for 18 months+ is inherently irrational. There’s virtually no rational way to justify it. They need to play on impulse spending and fear of missing out. If they’d thrown in a limited edition bonus for the first 8,000 buyers, they may have hit their target more quickly.

Once I saw the planet mode, I was like O0O Ever since Armada I wished they created a Unicron that had a better mouth at the very least. I just accepted the fact it was never going to happen and there were limitations. So, when I saw this, it's simple possibility of existing, sealed it for me. Once in a life time chance to own a screen accurate Unicron!? I'm in. It's likely they'll never produce anything else like this, not only in this scale, but with this amount of detail and accuracy. The planet mode for me is the biggest deal, because that's going to show people just how massive and dangerous he really is. Plus, in robot mode you have articulated fingers to grasp, and that's not something we've had on a figure this massive before, even the masterpiece figures don't have that. He's got an articulated mouth, moving eyes, a removable head with different faceplates. Idk, it's everything I want in a Unicron figure. Anything else they add just sweetens the deal. Plus, it's unlikely that if you don't back it then you'll pay more for it second hand later. I figured if I get it and it gets backed, then that's a good purchase for a collection, and it's a good conversation piece, because people are going to ask about it most likely. There's a story to tell. Anyway, that's just my opinion, others will likely differ. I think we're lucky we're even getting the chance for something like this.

I'm presuming a lot of people will be waiting until the last possible day to do this. There's no advantage to backing it early, so people will try and kick the can down the road as much as possible. I think if Hasbro did a payment plan option, this would have been backed far more quickly.

I know that the Sail Barge was fully funded later in the campaign. It's be interesting to see how the backing rate compares.

You'll certainly see an uptick in backers in the next week.

When making an argument the most important aspect is the structure of the argument. With a sound logical structure you can deduce outcomes.

For the sake of argument, to assume Unicron gets funded, 8000 is an appropriate known number because it is the minimum needed to be funded. Thus you use that number.

There is nothing unusual about this tactic. It’s a very basic element of logical construction.

8000 is the known final outcome, for the sake of argument, if we are arguing from the position of it getting funded. This is very basic and shouldn’t have to be explained.

A 27" Transformer really isn't that impressive when I have 5 that stand just a few inches shorter. And even Legends figures will still look stupidly too big for him. Like I've said before, to get a properly sized Unicron, he'd after to be the size of a twin bed for WST to look correct...

Humorous post - not meant to be taken too seriously. Sideshow still has the Transformers license agreement. Perhaps they could make a 9' tall Unicron (akin to the Han Solo in carbonite)!! I could see him in the entry way of my house hehe!!!! Then he'd be scale with Siege figures :p

Back to reality. I'm cool with the size he is. That's simply massive!

These MP units folks chat about, are they a limited release as well? Reading some of the posts, folks are saying they wanted to buy unicron but decided they wanted the MP. I am not the smartest kid in the room but since this is a one time deal and if the MP units are not a limited run (they only make a few thousand) then why not grab unicron and then 6 months later pick up the MP figure?

I never knew there was MP or 3P units until about a year ago (I knew of the horrible KO ones that look and feel like crap which seem to end up at dollar stores or sold on ebay as OEM) and just wanted to know some folks reasons for this.

I'm just going to throw this out there, but does anyone think a Unicron in planet mode only as a centerpiece (for say around $250) would have gotten a stronger backing? I know there would be major backlash if it didn't transform, but with all the griping on here now about size, weight, price, etc., would that have been a more feasible way to go?
I, for one, am thrilled to have the chance to own one either way, but I would not have complained if they offered a non-transforming Unicron at the same size (or even slightly larger) at a $250 price point. I am just curious.

To be fair, MP figures are limited production. The number is not nearly as limited as Unicron, but still. What TT does do is re-release them every so often. Sometimes TT underestimates the interest and the MP figure sells out. Other times TT overestimates the interest and figures are left sitting on shelves. They also often include limited edition bonuses like the coins or pewter mini-figures.

I think there would be just as strong a divide. I don’t see any situation Hasbro could have come out a clear winner. What we’re being offered now I believe is a strong offering.

This looks as if it would take forever to transform.

You'd think the "Limited Edition Bonus" is the figure itself. Which won't exist if no one buys it.

Though, I'm guessing Hasbro's got a back up plan if this falls through. Example: A scaled back version of the original prototype for a reduced price. Perhaps the same size, but with fewer features. Or similar features, but smaller.

A several of things. First I personally have a thing for giant robots and the Titans class is my most favorite thing Hasbro does.
Second, it’s a one of a kind deal. A centerpiece item for the collection
    Third, fear of missing out
Fourth, and this is me guessing. But if I were to pass on, my wife would undoubtedly be able to sell this and probably get the 625 I spent on it back. So I don’t see it as a waste of money

That's the one upside of Unicron. IF he gets made, odds are good the limited run will help him hold his value. It's similar to FunPub figures in that regard. You'll likely always be able to sell him at least at MSRP.

It's a shame that Haslab seems to only be used for such large, expensive figures and projects. They've got another one going right now for a life-size Cookie Monster (honestly looks great) that's also on track to fail. It's a shame. Why not scale these projects back a little so that the goals are more attainable? I don't get it.
