I start this thread to celebrate reprints that had no business being as great as they were. Inspired by playing with cyber fire bumblebee. Created in what I believe to be a throwaway repaint he has amassed a bit of a cult following due to his piercing orange eyes and suggestive bio...
Any other sleeper hit repaints?

 

First one to my mind is Sky-Byte, who owns the mold so much more than Cybershark. It's not just that Sky-Byte has an actual character and appears in a show, the deco is just better, with a ton more paint apps.

Sure. Mainly thinking of things that were throwaway repaints. If that makes sense. Another one like more than it should be is Energon Beachcomber who is miles better than the Cliffjumper. IMO anyway

 

Oh you reminded me of Energon Checkpoint. I love Energon Rodimus but Checkpoint was basically Prowl as a Prime which I'd love to see in fiction some time.

Universe 2 dropshot, he's a wonderful repaint and I refuse to get rid of him if an actual micromaster dropshot happens

Movie Fracture and Big Daddy are pretty great for random repaints of molds from prior lines shoehorned into a movie line.

As a random Bumblebee repaint, in addition to DotM Cyberfire I also really like the DotM Walmart exclusive repaint of the 2007 mold with the fanwanky racing decals (or tampos, as the case may be).

 

Rodimus Unicronus in POTP.....Far exceeded Rodimus Prime.

I also have a soft spot for Nemesis Prime reprints.

 

Any Shattered Glass Optimus. The regal purple with green windows n red eyes sells him as evil Optimus better than any Nemesis Prime imho. Only Nemesis I like is RID01 Scourge, who only sorta counts as a Nemesis.

E-hobby Road Rage deserves a mention too, being a neat looking Tracks Repaint that got her own tooling for the MP version! One of my favorite seldom used characters.

 

I'll second Rid2001 Scourge/black convoy. What was just a black repaint optimus in a largely repaint line has spawned many offspring and has become iconic

 

One of my personal faves, since it turned a movie throwaway into the only version of this figure I bought:

 

Siege Seekers are the best repaints I have seen for awhile and I’m looking forward to finding the Rainmakers at my ToysRUs since we don’t have Target here.
