Yep. Also to lock in your payment at a certain exchange rate so you don’t end up paying a few extra dollars/pounds/euros.

Yeah, for example, I was recognized at work for something and given a bonus that I had to load on a gift card. AJ was an option to load on, so I was able to do that and pay down 3/4 of MP-44. When it goes live, I'll only be charged the remaining amount on my credit card.

Okay, thanks everyone and sorry for my ignorance but he's the fist figure I've ordered from AJP.

Especially if you like the exchange rate at the time you are paying.

Most people here will continue to quote the exchange rate at the time they ordered. Amazon is only obligated to give you the best price in Yen, not US Dollars or whatever currency you are paying with. I mean, granted it's always possible that the exchange rate will be better later on, but not guaranteed.

For example: earlier this year 1 USD = 112.xx Yen, now it's around 106.xx Yen. At the end of the day, the difference is perhaps around 10 bucks, but then again some credit card will throw a 3% foreign exchange fee, etc. A penny here, a penny there, and pretty soon it's a couple of dollars. 340 is still better than 450, but I like 320 better still. This is an expensive purchase after all. Saving a few dollars here and there ....

Damn man I hear you. Had a colleague comment yesterday that the Australian dollar was falling hard against some currencies. Got a bit worried about my unpaid pre-order in Yen so decided to start watching the charts... It's not good:

MP44 was approx. $510 AUD shipped to my door at the time of pre-order but is now $564 o_O

I should've paid it earlier and been more informed. Lesson learnt.

My Top Ten Prime episodes are:

    MTMTE 1-3
    War of the Dinobots
    Ultimate Doom 1-3
    Megatron's Master Plan 1-2
    Masquerade
    Prime Problem
    Key to Vector Sigma 1-2
    Divide and Conquer
    Day of the Machines
    Atlantis, Arise!

No particular order. List subject to change.

I like to prepay my AJ balances so I can forget about it for months on end. My preference is that I can recoup any differences in exchange rates when balance paid and date of release is spread out of the course of a few months.

Actually the lesson to learn is not that you should have paid earlier. Hindsight is 20/20. Had the AUD gone a different way, you would have cursed yourself for paying earlier :)

If there's any lesson at all is to do what some members here have been doing i.e. paying by installment using AJP Gift Cards. That way, you would have probably paid around 530 or 535 i.e. it's going to be an average between 510 and 564. It will not be the cheapest, but it's not going to be the most expensive either.

No franpincho, that’s not why the thread exists. While it’s a great bonus, we all know that the reason this thread exists is to protect you. The cosmos knows that if you had to wait 18 months between the announcement of MP-44 and its release, without any of this great info and discussion, the wait would literally kill you. Especially as we get to under two weeks away, and then 1 week, and then a few days.

This thread exists so we don’t have to lock your medicine cabinets and hide all your sharp objects because the wait would be absolutely unbearable.

Most of us, including me, are right there with you. This thread exists to keep us alive, too.

    Soon, franpincho . . . soon.

@Liege Prime here’s a post I made with some details. Takara Tomy Masterpiece MP-44 Convoy/Optimus Prime Ver. 3

It’s one of a few posts I made, you might want to use the search function and search for gift card in posts made by me to get all the info. That link above covers the key parts.

At some point I’ll pull all the info together into a help thread that could maybe be stickied.

MP line to soul of chogokin line , or metal build line. They are in some respectable manner very near to each other.

You know I felt that way after MP-36. I know I am critical of that figure, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. I didn't think it was gonna get better than that, and honestly thought the MP game was coming to an end for me. Then Sunstreaker was shown, and I was like:

    or for the young memers:

Just keep playing the game and something will come along and wow you more than the last one. MP-39 felt like the whole package to me. Animation car mode, real car mode, and the most awesome and articulate robot mode. It had all that cool stuff, but on a carbot... not a large leader but a carbot.

I been buying AJP gift cards since January, now I only owe about $40 something I'll let them take the exact amount out of my debit card. Then I start this process again with U.S Amazon for my PO Voltron gx-88.

That’s a great size Sam. I might have to track that same figure down for the basketball, or off-court cheerleader.

My only question is why has there been any photo shoots with MP-36? Seeing them together, again officially, would’ve been sweet.
