I think they just ran out of waves of PotP to do them before Siege started, so Takara decided to release them as Selects and go to town with the weapons and accessories since they were now exclusives.

And Hasbro is offering them through Pulse because selling TTMall exclusives through their website is just another thing they do now and shows us once again that Hasbro Pulse is more than just HasbroToyShop with a facelift.

I concur with you , in regards to Pulse... And I too think the Seacons were a part of POTP, but they didn't as much run outta time , as much as they aborted early and sort of rushed it along ...idk , but I'm more than happy TT caters to us adults , lmao. You know who else would have been a part of Wave 5 or 6 ? , Monstructor/Dinoking ;)  now I am so looking forward to seeing if we get any of that material ...

looks like hun grrrrr and ripper snapper with variations. I like abominus. It has its issues and your miles may very. I didn\'t get a very good hun grrrrr and I got a second one and his legs were still wobbly but others have said theirs was just fine. I am looking forward to this set. The body looks better than abominus and I am sure there will be some upgrades but just hope the legs hold out for me

Newb question, as I usually just buy at brick and mortar stores -

How does it typically go with Takara preorders like these? Like, is it just this short preorder window, and then that's all, without being available for regular purchase online after the release?

I'm asking because these are too cool, but I'm tight on funds for a good while, especially if the next waves are going to hit pretty close together. If I have the time to save up until January, that would be stellar.

Usually preorders stay open for quite a while.

Most (if not all) of the online TF retailers don't charge until the figure comes out.

This includes Hasbro Pulse, though they usually will put a temporary hold on your card when you order.

Thanks for the info. I'm going off the Hasbro site mentioning "Preorder by 8/27/2019." (Or maybe that's so they get first dibs, and after the BBTS pages will be back?)

Anyone know if Snaptrap's back cannons are detachable and perhaps usable as handheld accessories? His Hasbro Pulse listing states that he comes with "twin cannons" and lists them among his known accessories, which seems to imply that they too are detachable and usable accessories and not an integral part of the figure itself.

Honestly I expect these to go pretty quick, better to order sooner rather than later

It makes more sense, if Siege is an example, to sell two Deluxes as a LEADER class "figure." If anything, Deluxes aren't sub $15 anymore so two of them isn't going to be priced near current Voyager pricing. Second, from Piranacon and POTP, this two Deluxe Leader priced set would come with combiner accessories which kind of helps to soften that price tag. Just like how a Voyager Shockwave comes with bullshit "armour" parts to justify his price tag.

Personally, I DON'T want two deluxes. CW/POTP combiner torsos are a bit too small for me. They feel more like the combined form is scaled towards Legends sized figures. I'd rather see Leo's upper torso be a voyager sized bot that hinges in half to make up more "bulk" in the torso and that the lower bot be Deluxe sized so that the hips stay proportional to the upper body.

Honestly, it's rather telling that Takara didn't start with Leo Kaiser. He would have been an easier to retool (his limb bots) but the torso, if going with a two bot setup, requires some enginnering effort. More effort then retooling a solid five team set requires. For the Seacons, the work was already done YEARS ago with Silverbolt and then followed up on with Hun-Grr. All Takara had to do was figure out how to fit a turtle into that shape and then which limb bots work best for each Seacon limb. I'd say the hardest part would have been figuring out how to emulate the targetmaster limb bot part and that could have easily just been dropped or used a Legends sized figure (whether new sculpt or a retool). The fact that they went so far to figure out how to do a Deluxe sized bot to retain the scramble city style play shows, to me, that they are working on a Leo Kaiser. Whether or not that takes the form of a two bot solution or a bot with plug in accessories for the lower part of the body, or a two bot with accessory parts.

I'm not fussed about the Voyager/Leader difference. My point was, if those two components were done as a boxset, essentially taking the place of the previous combiner leader (which I assumed was a Voyager), what size would those two components likely be?

But, to be clear, while I'm using a US-centric price class when I say "Voyager," I'm thinking this would be a project that would be most likely to come out of Japan/TakaraTomy, not Hasbro. And Japan isn't typically tied to Hasbro-style price points as we are.

I absolutely agree that the traditional Scramble City combiners (of which the Seacons are a modification) were easier to do with existing tooling. The effort required to do Liokaiser with all six members would have to be significant. I'm not sure if I can agree that the fact that they're doing the Seacons "right" (my word, but I mean by including the Targetmaster gimmick with a Deluxe-sized bot and retaining the Scramble City-style play) shows they're working on Liokaiser. I certainly hope they are, but anything I've seen is strictly theoretical at this point.

I wouldn't say it's a de-facto "they're doing Leo" but more of a confirmation that they're looking at doing more non-standard five member combiner teams which would include Leo Kaiser. I would expect them to show off a ROAD Ceaser next, to be honest since he could be an easy retool of existing figures and re-use of the CW Prime mold which does look pretty good with Prime's arms as the combined form arms.

I would think god bomber would have been more indicative of how they could do road ceaser

I can see that more as a proof of concept kind of thing but God Bomber doesn't work as a retool for it. The Prime mold does though.

i dont really see how they could turn a truck cab into a dune buggy, plus the cw prime mold is by far the worst torso from cw. id rather they not even do road ceasar if that was what they had planned

There's a guy who made a custom using one and it looked pretty awesome but I can't seem to find it. The Silverbolt mold would also work really well for a retool into a buggy.

Since we are on this topic, would anyone consider the limb Seacons to be triple changers?

I would think a new Road Caesar should be made with original molds, ideally. I would hope. Would there be a worthwhile repaint or reuse for them?
