Sorry, the picture isn’t very clear. A touch of hot water where, on the tank tread?

Just opened mine up (production code 91311). As others have reported, Slamdance's left foot is tight as hell and I could see exactly how people have been snapping it off at the ankle tilt pin area. However, loosening my screw (which already wasn't really tight) had no effect. I was able to slowly move the foot, but those with afflicted ones have to be sure to apply pressure to the ankle tilt/swivel while doing so. Right now, I'm holding my fingers down on the the tilt pin and the grey spinning wheel attached to the same part (See pics) while slowly moving the leg joint back and forth. I do believe, as previously posted, that hot water will help in loosening this up. That's just one part of the problem. The other is that there is indeed a slight clearance issue between the red plastic piece against the bottom of the grey tread (foot bottom) when the foot is in standing position. The tightness of the foot combined with the red part barely catching on the tread is the problem when trying to transform the foot normally. You could pare it down slightly so it doesn't catch at all, but the part will still remain much tighter than the other foot. I used my thumb to push on that red bit while holding the foot steady as opposed to just holding the figure while trying to force the foot to move, which will likely cause snapping.

Update: Just finished a few minutes of hot water treatment. The joint bends much easier now. The red plastic section on the bottom of the foot does still catch a little when coming from a full flat-footed mode, but because the joint is looser, it's easier to move it past there, but you still should apply finger pressure to the tilt swivel area while doing so. That is, unless you ultimately decide to shave that nub down a bit. So far, I have no stress marks on my ankle tilt.

Ouch. Yeah, that needs to go right back to Amazon. I didn't even want to open my box (most of my collection is MISB for now), but wanted to check Slamdance before Amazon's return window closed, just in case. Sorry to see yours in such a state.

I think I'm just going to put some glue on it. I don't want to bother to return it just to get another one in as bad or worse a state.

91371 and mine has the foot tightness as well. nothing broke, but lets see if the screw-loosening and/or hot water tricks will help.

edit: Huh. neither worked for mine. it was more of a clearance issue for the transformation's room between the toes. I have to shave some off from both the upper and lower cavities before it moved smoothly. Such a weird problem...

It's best to trim just a small bit of the edge of the red part from the leg. It either wasn't cut down enough at the factory or the hole the foot plugs into is off micron or so. As water tricks seem like they will only be a temp fix and once the plastic cools back to normal it will get stuck over again. Loosening the screw doesn't solve the problem of the foot not being able to move at all, but likely another issue the foot may have.

Yes, the hot water will have no bearing whatsoever on the clearance issue happening. It's two separate issues. The water only helps the stiff foot joint to bend in general, which just makes it less likely to break when the part (trimmed or untrimmed) does clear it (with some assistance) because the joint actually bends. The two reasons for the snapping in the same area are 1) people trying to force the untrimmed foot without knowing that it's snagged or 2) trying to bend the too-tight joint even when the clearance problem doesn't occur.

My figure cooled off a while ago from its hot bath and the joint hasn't regained any stiffness. The clearance problem remains unchanged, but doesn't bother me enough to trim it since I know how to handle it during transformation.

My Slam Dance is right as rain. Just being careful in transforming him. No stress or cracks and no clearance issues, either.

It's a shame there's no guarantee that returning a set to Amazon will guarantee a person a replacement without those issues. Nobody, especially kids, should have to be extra careful in transforming a mainline figure, let alone have to use hot water and/or a hobby knife to fix it. Hasbro is lucky this wasn't happening with the mainstream release of Skytread/Flywheels. There'd be a whole lot more complaints of people snapping off legs by far. It's one thing not having Skytread tab together perfectly in tank mode due to the way the ridges were done, but that's a far cry from the figure ending up broken, and sharp/jagged as a result.

91351 code. right knee is a bit stiff and might need some shaving. Left foot needed the shaving at the bottom. left shin has the stress marks that other people have been mentioning. Bit of a mess but the fixes are doing the trick so far.

edit* in my flurry of trying to fix Slamdance I didn't even realize he's missing his right wing. This set is a disaster

As much as I wanted this set for G2 Sideswipe, it's not worth it if Slamdance can't even be transformed properly out of the box without breaking. At least Greenlight and Skywarp don't seem to have any problems.

    Both sets came today!

My slamdance has zero problems and that Sideswipe is dead sexy, I can’t wait for Nonnef.

Generally the people with tight foot joints seems common and is easily dealt with, but the people with actual broken Slamdance's appear to be quite rare. Anyway, it's more than worth it if all it takes to prevent any perceived damage is a few minutes with a screwdriver and a file or just using a blow dryer on high.
