you ever hear of a little thing called star wars? harry potter? power rangers? write home to mother? media aimed at children in general?
Yes but the She-ra series is absent He-man and seems to have little connection to it and the movie isn't the same as the cartoon.
Can’t stop myself from laughing at the notion a show that has dolls for merch can’t be action orientated. There was a recent DC show that had a similar line- full super hero cast but I guess the dolls void that being an action show too? Every heard of Hot Toys? Fucking Action Man??? Are you serious with this? Don’t you love power rangers?
I wonder if I should take this time to check out the 2002 cartoon. I have only ever heard people say good things about it.
So I guess new adventures of he-man and he-ro son of he-man (with he-man and teela's son) will be ignored. I'm fine with a "3rd season" of the 80s cartoon but it needs to stay a "family" cartoon. Kevin smith has me worried about that. I don't want blood and man at arms getting killed and cursing. If they do that I won't watch it. I wonder if the animation will be like this commercial?
No I mean there is no reason to make the show about Teela. They need to hype the He-Man movie and there is no need to do another girl-power show since She-Ra exists. This is 100% likely to focus on He-Man, ultimately.
I'm definitely excited for this. The image they posted has a little more ominous look, and I think I read they reference the 2 halves of the power sword... maybe they are drawing on the minicomics for inspiration?
Oh I'm sure He-man will be in it, but based on the plot he'll play second fiddle to Teela Lets look at their plot again it's up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last. Not Adam must find his sword, No TEELA must find it,on HER JOURNEY. My best guess is they are setting up a story about Teela becoming the next Sorceress and she'll be ordering He-man around afterwards. Also the secret of Greyskull wasn't a secret the previous Sorceress knew and there have been episodes about it So if it's a secret again she must not be around. Also no power sword=No he-man. So that is where this series will start. That or Adam lost the sword and is stuck as He-man.
A new animated show based around the original series that was plot/scheme of the week and had no sort of over arching storyline whatsoever when you had a perfectly good show you could have continued i.e. 200x/MYP. Cool, but no thanks.
Sign up for one. Problem solved. I seems they should have just rebooted it even if they are using the old cartoon designs. But I guess as others have said, there wasn't an ongoing plot so it probably doesn't matter. As far as She-Ra show, this past season confirmed she is from a different planet and Eteria was said a couple times. The writers do seem to know her birthplace from the old show and haven't altered that so far.
Considering that Teela is the Sorceress's daughter, I understand the idea of her getting focus on her ties to the Sorceress and Castle Grayskull. This isn't even a He-Man series going by that title card ("He-Man" is completely absent; it's just "Masters of the Universe: Revelation").
Featuring fan-favorites He-Man, Orko, Cringer and Man-At-Arms, the story pits our heroic warriors and guardians of Castle Grayskull against Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man and the vile legions of snake mountain! But after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it’s up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last. This is the epic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe saga fans have waited 35 years to see! “I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe. In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!” Judging from the release it sounds like a much larger story than just a “Teela” story. “Revelation” + “Final Battle” + “Entire Universe” He-Man is literally mentioned in every paragraph of the release.
Count me, I never grew up with the original cartoon just started watching it on Netflix... before they took it down... so count me in for some new He-Man! Though while your at it Netflix could you please bring back the original 80s cartoon too I still haven't watched it all.
1. Star Wars had an entire Rebellion and an ancient power source that could do whatever the plot required. 2. The Power Rangers never fought an entire world ruled by Rita and an entire empire, just Rita, a few minions, and one monster at a time. Also, the PR were more like 16-18, not 13, which is how old all of the She-Ra characters look. 3. Hordak could take out the entire clique within a snap of his fingers if he wanted to.
I didn't say He-Man is absent from the series, I was talking about the title-card. Which, combined with that description, sounds more like a general "Masters of the Universe" story with He-Man's "absence" being a plot point (the Sword of Power is missing, after all).
Alright, my feet finally hit the ground now. I'm a HUGE fan of the 200X series and would much prefer they continue that series. The plans they had we're awesome, like He-Man dawning the Battle Damage Armor and Battlecat wearing that weird oversized Helmet. I wanted to see the story of how the Masters become fugitives in Eternia because Hordak stole the thrown with the help of Faker. Also that the writers had cool ideas on how to implement Hordak having machine-shapeshifting powers. But who knows, maybe Kev and the gang might have some interesting ideas for Revelation. It could very well be the spiritual successor to the 200X Series. My gut tells me Revelation will be a soft reboot that'll use the Filmation series as a basis to build on.
