I think we're on the same page here. What you are talking about is a new thread to discuss a couple of different products and how they can interact, compete or work together. It's not a single thread to discuss ALL accessories.
It's a great idea to open a thread to talk about possible upgrades for Siege Hound. But you don't want that thread to also contain discussion about upgrades to Siege Jetfire, Siege Optimus and Siege Sideswipe, let alone the various MP Hounds, FansToys Phoenix, Takara MP Primes (old AND new).
Indeed just a thread on "Upgrades to any Hound Toy" rapidly gets out of hand, with two 3P MP's and one MP official, multiple Legends scale, Generations., Classics, Bayformer, Animated or Prime versions, KO's 3P's, officials, Hasbro or Talara repaints... Likewise a thread on "Upgrades to Siege figures" rapidly escalates as there are dozens of Siege figures and some may have multiple potential upgrades. It's too broad to allow proper discussion.

That's the problem with trying to relegate all KO products to a single thread. There are simply too many, and they are too varied.
It's the equivalent of a site-wide mandate that ALL Bayformer related toy discussion should go in a single thread. That means if you want to talk about MPM-04 it goes in that thread. LT-02, the KO of that product also goes in that thread, as does Toyworlds Bumblebee figure, Unique Toys Last Knight Prime and Megatron, and the Wiejiang OS KO of Evasion prime. You also need to stay in that thread to talk about the Hasbro two-step Grimlock or the years old KO of DOTM Megatron. There's a guy that did a custom of the Devastator figure from the movies using Tonka trucks and similar toys. That would also be relegated to that single thread. A McDonalds Happy Meal Toy or a Kinder Surprise figure from one of those movies would also end up in the same thread.
It's just daft to try and isolate a massive segment of the Collector Market into a single thread. If they want to segment it off, create a new Board for it and allow as many threads as necessary.

But back to your suggestion, it sounds like you want to kick off some interesting discussions about a couple of products. That should absolutely get a new thread to talk about it. It shouldn't be forced to try and squeeze into some other, inappropriate area of the forums just to comply with some irrational, poorly defined and imperfectly enforced mandate.
My advice? If you want to start those discussions, spend a few minutes working out a good title and defining-post of a new thread to make it clear what the topic should be, then create it. If it turns out you are duplicating something that already exists, you will absolutely be told so within a few minutes by someone. If not, and if the appetite is there for such a discussion, the thread will take off and you'll be able to converse with like-minded collectors without random distractions from people talking about something entirely different. But I always think you should try and define the area of discussion as clearly as possible, right from the start.

 

This reminds me of spike’s comment & chip’s sentiment, “... I mean, they don’t call those creeps decepticons for nothing.” From one of those rude awakening videos...



As to what actually happened with the thread mergings, I think it might’ve had something to do with new moderators they added a while back... so on one hand I’m thinking they want to be sensitive to balancing the needs of the newly volunteered help they were looking to get (and likely needed due to volume of demands/needs to maintain the website) and satisfying the needs/wants of us (and other) users, so we too should be sensitive to steps they’ll try to take to remedy the issue(s). I mean, you don’t want to chew out people that offered their time freely to help as a mod. In any case, glad to see that a mod is going to look to get us clarification in the next few days.

 

But what if the "new mod" hated having to regulate umpteen threads of ko offerings, and just decided to pull a thanos?

Can you slap thanos' hand? Can you reverse the "Snap" as it was? We're not allowed to question Thanos, whomever was wearing the gauntlet to cause this crap-merge.

I want free access to the fuzzy area for this.

clearly what we need is a group of mods to go back in time to various points, find the old threads, return to the present, and reopen them.

hopefully without anyone sacrificing themselves for one the threads or encountering their past self that was still loyal to past thanos mod who switches places with them with the intent on destroying the current KO thread.

 

I’m sorry but this line works way to well with the thanos comparison and your icon being Batman.
