I'm from around the same time and do indeed love my g1 stuff. However, i wish we could also move on like the japanese series did and start with all new characters for each series, with a stragler or 2 kept around to tie the universe together. This is clearly not g1 star saber or deszaras, but i love both figures regardless. The g1 kit does improve ismenios quite a bit IMO, just for those nostalgic wing shapes, but i like this star sabre as is. He looks really awesome in hand.

 

...i don't think silver is the right color: it needs to be that dark gunmetal they used for his jet intakes...

 

I was going to try using one of my gundam markers that i use for panel lining. Mine is on the truck for delivery right now so I'll let ya know how that goes.

 

Just imo , mirroring both eyes makes it a tad better looking ...

No, it needs to be the same color as the face. That's what it's supposed to be. That's why the eyes look so off.

Used my fine point gundam marker. I suppose if you had a silver one it would work. Black is what I preferred.

 

This looks the best to me, I will be doing this on mine whenever I finally get it.

 

...nah, it was the same color silver as his faceplate in the comics, but typically cast within dark shadows: the darker gunmetal of his intakes just feels right to me...




...in whatever case, that red just feels too unfinished for his kind of menacing-zealot look...

 

Something being cast in dark shadows in art should have zero effect on coloring choices on a physical figure. That's nonsense.

 

Wish the bill of his helmet was tilted downward at a bit more of a sinister angle.

And some dark grey around the eyes. Definitely gonna paint that whenever I get him

Yea I agree fully especially about deathsaurus wing shape for his g1 look and I fully support kits like the one with ismenios and carnifex, but if there idw are any other series representations then I believe that look shouldn't be compromised to make geewuners happy. And vice versa if its g1 then that look should be the focus but back to the figure I missed it on TCP does anywhere else have it in stock still?

 

That’s the single deal-breaker for me right now. I’m hoping a 3P can save us because I’m just about sold on the figure but not at the point where I feel like buying one and getting that headsculpt. I don’t mind paying for an add-on kit.

 

I like the figure (and Planet X is my favorite 3P), but that head sculpt just does nothing for me at all. In either iteration. It doesn't work. I'm kind of feeling something closer to a merger of the G1 head with the masked head of T30 Generations Jetfire. Also not loving the strange shape of the crossbar of the sword. How about make it echo the Star Saber a bit more.

Change those, and I'm sold.
