An upgrade kit after 2.5 years? That seems unlikely.

I would guess it's a repaint.

Perhaps that's why I was able to pick up a second hand one recently relatively cheaply from a seller.

Minor question which also applies to the original Warbotron, but that thread hasn't been updated in a while so this is probably the better place to ask; has anyone ever figured out what the notch in Noisy/Brawl's shield is for? There's a small squarish hole on one side of the central gap which doesn't appear to have any purpose whatsoever. It is in the right place to clip onto one of the two circular bits on the treads, but I can't figure out why it isn't just a small shallow notch like the other one for the tread attachment that isn't visible from the top.

Probably a dumb question, maybe a good question: Is there a copycat of the Jinbao Bruticus?

I'm looking to pick up the set, and I see a handful of listings on AliExpress that are more in the $70 range, vs $90. Same size specs as Jinbao, but it's "unbranded", and in all the pics the colors look more saturated. I found different box art in one of the listings.



I'm going to sit and wait a bit now anyway, to see what the big mystery surprise is that's coming.

 

That box cover shows that it isn't Jinbao. That brand seems to be the Machine Boy version.

If you're planning to buy from AliExpress why not look around in ShowZStore? I believe they have a presence there too. Or go directly to their website if you prefer.

 

The left one, going by its saturated colors, should be by MachineBoys (nickname "Fruiticus")?

The right size one is by Xuexing Animation. It is the simplified diecast version. You don't want it.

Both are original size. Only JinBao is oversized.
