Since Hasbro is chicken to release a GIJoe line to normal retail, just make it a more limited online line. Pulse, BBTS, EE, Diamond Comics. Neca seems to be doing pretty well without selling in Walmart and a very limited Target presence. As for BAF, that could be a way they could get buyers to get the lesser characters. While I don't want to see a dismembered Flint. How about stuff like BATs, SNAKE Armor, PAK RATs or smaller weaspons (Whirlwind) and stuff like that. If I was Hasbro, I'd keep the line sort of limited. Waves of 4. Maybe 3 waves a year. Also don't produce them in super high numbers so they'll more likey sell out. Some limited multi packs 2-3 figures. Wave 1 Snake Eyes -V2 with Timber Duke Cobra Commander Cobra Soldier Wave 2 Scarlett Roadblock Destro Storm Shadow Wave 3 Flint Lady Jaye Baroness Zartan Wave 4 Snake Eyes -v1 Shipwreck Viper Major Bludd Wave 5 Hooded Cobra Commander Firefly Stalker Grunt Multipacks Tomax/Xamot Buzzer/Torch/Ripper Zaranna/Zandar
Except this is Hasbro so they will pack in one unique character with every troop builder. Then we'll all have to figure out what to do with all those 6" Blowtorches.
Lol, that's why I would still rather see anyone but Hasbro do this. 1/12 SHF or little Mega Construx but trying to get MC would be like shooting yourself in the face. Just let GI Joe RIP, lol. I still got my original collection plus countless remakes since.
This is a lineup I'd plan for a 6" line: Mass release Single figures: Snake Eyes with enough parts to swap between V1/V2 looks Storm Shadow V1 Scarlett Cobra Commander with hood, battle mask, cape, back pistol, cobra staff, et al Duke with optional cartoon movie jetpack Flint Cobra Trooper with swappable officer helmet and web gear Cobra Viper Spirit Shipwreck and Polly Alley Viper Destro Baroness Firefly Zartan Crimson Guard with different helmets to homage the different iterations it had in previous toylines Fan Channel exclusives: BAT V2 Overload Iron Grenadier multipack Crimson Guard Fred Battle Armor Cobra Commander(Fred) Cobra Trooper/Officer multipack Alley Viper V1/2/POC multipack Cobra Viper multipack with more weapons/accessories Cobra Paraviper Dreadknoks multipack Cobra La multipack Red Ninja multipack Crimson Guard Multipack Kamakura Blowtorch with porkchop sandwiches 2 packs: Tomax/Xamot Battle damaged "Silent Interlude" Snake Eyes V1 VS Storm Shadow V1 with more weapons and working parachute for Snake Eyes(maybe reuse the Sigma 6 parachute?) Night Creeper V1 and Ninja Force Night Creeper with a variant being the Shadow Ninja version Slice/Dice Ninja Force Storm Shadow/Snake Eyes with variant Shadow Ninja versions Storm Shadow V2 vs Ninja Viper or variant Red Ninja Flint in Cobra Trooper disguise VS Cobra Trooper(with swappable heads do you can use the other figure as another Cobra Trooper instead of Flint) Alpine and Bazooka Crimson Guard with Crimson Guard Immortal Vehicle sets: Cobra Trouble Bubble with Cobra Viper repaint Glowing Zartan with that skiff thing Serpentor with Air Chariot Duke(with pilot gear) with Skyhawk HISS Tank with HISS Driver Cobra Commander with SNAKE Armor SDCC Exclusive: Original 13 multipack
You made a list without Shipwreck. Are you f*cking kidding me. Look at this dude! Parrot, white-hat, bell-bottoms, open-collar hairy-chest, anchor-tattoo, gettin’ it on with Covergirl. This guy is the man, the man.
Mega Construx would be just as bad about re-used figures. Have you seen how many character variants they have planned for MotU sets next year?
Yeah, that’s part of why I said it’s like shooting yourself in the face. Plus, out of those 600 reused figures, you’ll find zero in stores.
Don't forget Satin. I just watched The Pyramid of Darkness arc where she showed up, with Shipwreck, Snakeeyes, Polly, and Timber all dressed up as her 80's pop band. Shipwreck gets around.
Oh look Mattel is launching a new MOTU toy-line, again, and has a new He-Man cartoon coming to Netflix. Dear Hasbro, regarding GI Joe...
Yeah, say what you will about Mattel, but... they seem to be trying with MOTU... which is more than I can say with Hasbro and GI Joe. The latest news about the GI Joe film doesn't make me thrilled either.
With the Joe movies, I'll believe it when I see it...literally... I'm not even sure the movies will make it to the screen. Those generic ass 3.75 military figures/vehicles at Target don't need a movie to push them. I mean hell I'm not asking for ARAH redone, I want to see modern Joe's continuing where they left off of the POC/30th/50th lines with the bad club Joe's redone and the 25th gaps filled for completion. Just recently the AH-64E mockup was finally revealed as a wind tunnel model and THAT would make for a bad ass modernized Dragonfly. That's what appealed to me about ARAH, the fact that the design team would skim through mags and base designs off of cool new military tech at the time. Hell even if we were to go the conservative route with just retooling, the Dragonfly retooled with 4 rotors based on the AH-1Z Cobra would look cool. The Dragonfly actually is 25th compatible, you just need a small figure in the gunner seat up front, like ROC Sandstorm, 25th and Retaliation Airborne are too big(the latter is bad ass).
Yeah, this insistence from Hasbro that they need some kind of media tie in when the 25th line was highly successful without it amazes me. Also, I agree with your previous statements that a 3.75" line and a 6" line could easily co-exist as they'd serve different market purposes and most likely target different demographics.
While there’s appreciation for the thought put into these lists, there’s a slew of rhyming phrases of dissatisfaction that could be used for a clear omission... Also, some minds might get bent out of shape with how far down on the list some are.
Via Toyhype USA, Super7 has pitched something to Hasbro: Would you buy a $20 potential Hasbro GI Joe equivalent to Marvel Legends/Black Series or $45 4H/Super7 Ultimate Joe?
I'd jump on whichever line I could get first. I'd prefer to buy from Hasbro, but I wouldn't say no to S7 Ultimates either.
I quoted both of these because they go together somewhat. Mattel is relaunching the 5.5 line because they can get a lot of MotU figures out of a handful of parts. And, apparently, quite a few wrestling figures as well. Mega may be milking the He-Man repaints excessively but it doesn't take much to turn a He-Man body into two-thirds of the Eternian population. Which is why it's somewhat frustrating to get both He-Man with yellow trimmed boots and He-Man with sandy blond hair but no Mekaneck. Plus, Mattel needs some sort of shelf presence in that particular market now that DC is transitioning to a new toy manufacturer. Hasbro has Marvel, Star Wars and Transformers. They're doing all right taking in money so long as Disney keeps making movies.
I think I'd go with anything they offered, but I'd much prefer an Ultimate style line versus one that is Marvel Legends style.
