I'm in on Unicron no matter what. But this text has me a bit confused..

"Do not be fooled. The premium detail and deco are, indeed, inspired by classic 1986 movie, but it is not, in fact, The Lord of Chaos himself"

If it's not him who is it? Armada Unicron? Old man B'Bantor is dazed, confused & burned out.. somebody help me out here and explain what Hasbro means with that statement.

They’re saying it’s not actually unicron in the flesh, so to speak and reminding you it’s just a toy no matter how real it might look

If you are referring to me, then the capitalized emphasis implies that you again are trying to bait an argument.

Yes, of course the link at the end of his article devalues his argument because it's a link to his own marketing company, and his argument is how people need to buy marketing services to succeed.

You just finished telling the board that only gullible people would believe Hasbro's claims about Unicron's weight--you said they lacked "common sense" and were "foolish." This is literally an article in which a guy is arguing for the benefits of something he's selling.

He mentioned like six projects out of potentially hundreds of thousands. Is that a representative sample size? What are his controls/variables? The article isn't peer reviewed. It's a blog post. There are no sources cited. How do I know he didn't cherrypick data that benefits his message and his business?

So yeah, there are questions about credibility. Lots.

You're being obtuse. Most professionals write information online not just to educate, but to pitch their own services. Those activities go hand in hand. Educate people that don't know much/anything about the topic, and then let them know you're available for it. The key between snake-oil salesman and legit persons/entities is in the delivery and the facts (many of which you can then look up, now having a basic overview on the topic, thanks to the pro sharing knowledge).

Some of us talk about our fields in passing on boards like this, but then some clown derides it as "just a random person online, not a link to an article".

You just cannot please some people.

Again, that article gave some good insight on how the idea of "it'll all happen at the end" is a crowdfund myth. And it's not necessarily because the product was bad (though it could be), but sometimes due to communication missteps by the company. Hasbro had better start their non-Haslab NA tally, and showing it public, if they hope to get a push.

That's because no one knows the answer except those retailers. Anything else is just guessing

I think the figure is great and if it was $300. I would be all in , I just think the price is a little much and Hasbro is a company in good shape so why not give the hard core collectors a little break ? We have all spent tons of money over the years on transformer toys over the years ( except those crappy bay formers )

I was applying the same approach to the article that you've been happily applying to Hasbro--namely that of skeptical criticism--except I didn't feel the need to call everyone who felt differently a gullible fool.

Do I think the guy's basic argument has to be wrong, or that his info is worthless? Not necessarily. But is the credibility of the source significantly compromised? Yes.

    1. This isnt a normal crowdfund because internet retailers are taking preorders .

    2. those retailers like BBTS, Robotkingdom and 10 others wont put in their orders until the last few days....... MEANING A SPIKE IS GUARANTEED

    3. Will that spike send us over 8000?? who knows.... maybe so, maybe not but that article the guy wrote is for your average crowdfunding project and this ..... is not the average crowdfund.

and just because someone writes an article......... doesnt make it right......lol. I can give you guys a link to a flat earth article...... doesnt mean its right and the truth lol. and like you said....... the guy can be right but he's also in an incredibly biased position because he's intending to use the article to sell his services.

    Definitely not typical.
It would just behooves them to attempt those tallies now, in order to ensure an ACTUAL spike, instead of a quasi-hidden campaign.

We shall see what happens. :)

Really, this is only presented as a "crowdfund" because it's the hip, internet thing to do right now. But the only thing it has in common with typical crowdfunding structure is its potential to fail. Otherwise, it lacks the "support it however much you like" structure to entice everybody to buy in.

Really, this is just a limited-time pre-order product, like most direct-to-consumer merchandise is.

It's not up to Hasbro. It's up to when those other retailers put in their orders.
