Steel Legends Kshatriya. Beautiful and solid piece but should've certainly come with instructions for just how much of it has to be put together out of the box.

Finally I have it in my hand, all worth it for its price, there is a sheer heft to it, pretty solid, not much to complain really. This would be my first RX-78-2 as a long time Gundam fan.

Ok, sorry for the noob question that is probably asked over and over, but what is the difference with Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite, vs Metal Robot Damashii? Scale? Detail level? That Zaku looks great!

I ordered the Metal Build Astrea with the cannon back in June from Nippon-yasan, but it still hasn't shipped yet. I figured they ran out of them, and had to wait until the second edition release in July. But now, I'm kind of frustrated with them, since everything on the order shows as "in-stock"... Standard reply when I emailed them. "Pre-order volume has been high" etc. Is this normal? :banghead:

"Gundam Fix Figuration" is the pet design label for toys produced under longtime Gundam designer Hajime Katoki's supervision, based on his design work. The Metal Composite sub-label brought those designs into 1/100 scale, with diecast construction.

The Metal Build line features similar build quality, but is not designer specific, and frequently features greater design freedom and new embellishments, rather than stressing high fidelity to pre-existing designs. There's also a slightly higher emphasis on extreme, hyperkinetic, and dynamic articulation.

Metal Robot Damashii is a sister/subline to the Robot Damashii action figure lineup, at roughly 1/144 scale instead.

Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite and Metal Robot Damashii are similar in that they have metal skeleton/joints. Their scales vary for the most part, GFFMC specifically are around 1/100 scale (or MG) similar to those on the Metal Build line while the Metal Robot Damashii are around the 1/144 (or HG) scale, but they also release some at non-scale every once in a while. The detail level is where they all vary. Most people criticize MRD for not having as much detail as their GFFMC/MB counter parts, but obviously theyre both aiming for different things: GFFMC/MB is aiming for high detail and realism while MRD is just aiming for paint and detail with diecast joints on an already existing design. I know that GFFMC isn't MB but they're both trying to do the same, in the sense that, Hajime Katoki (the man whose designs the GFFMC are based on) designs have always been "how would this gundam look like if it were real?" while MB is "How would *insert giant robot name here* look like if it were real?"

a small example between an MB and MRD:

    Metal Build

    Metal Robot Damashii

If you're on a 'budget' (for lack of a better word?) or don't think you have the space, the MRD are a pretty good alternative for the MB or GFFMC. What i don't know, on all of their lines, is how their release schedule works. So if you're waiting on a specific gundam or any other giant robot then i wish you the best.

sadly, I can't help you on how nippon-yasan works haven't ordered anything from them on a huge price level. Hopefully, it just means that they have lots of packing to do and that wherever area you live in, is way down on the shipping to list.

If anyone's still looking for a metal composite zaku pre order I'll be cancelling my backup order from bbts so if you want to try to coordinate a time so you can try to swoop it up just pm me if not I'll cancel it in a day or 2.
    Someone has claimed it.

Thanks for the hook-up @decops ! I've honestly refreshed the amazon.co.jp listing hundreds of times this week hoping the prices would fall closer to retail and was really close to giving up all hope for this first release. Thanks for being awesome.

Got the 3rd party Blue Destiny Unit 2 yesterday and the Metal composite Zaku in today. The blue destinies shoulder joints are super loose so i gotta fix that otherwise it's a really nice figure. I like the LED in it a lot more then i thought i would. I will have to grab unit 1 at some point.
    The Zaku is just fantastic.

not sure if there's a separate GFFMC thread...

it'll be really funny if Bandai somehow decides to reissue this to get the scalpers to hoard it again...

edit: didn't see Charles' yt-review already posted.

Yes and it was really flimsy. There was also an exclusive Robot damashii and an excluisve addon kit for RG exia.
