I actually like Slash. She adds something new to the team, and doesn't step on the toes of the other team.
She's not a large bruiser like Grimlock or SLudge
She isn't as openly hostile or rebellious like Slag
She doesn't seem as much of a loner as Snarl
And isn't as cheerful as Swoop.
Adding traits such as Sarcasm, and being generally more intelligent (and by this I mean having to potential to make strategies barely more complicated then "Hit it Hard.") And I think she'd fit in nice.
Also their's some pretty funny comedy dynamic in
Slash: Presents Slightly Thought out Strategy
Other DInobots: Ignores cause they'd rather just rush in and kill everything.

Honestly the Dinobots' personalities are so similar, if I had my way a new/Female Dinobot would be completely normal. No broken English, no limited intelligence; she'd have the ability to think, speak, and reason like any ordinary Transformer. Just don't make her angry, because that's when the Dinobot nature comes out and she'd be a terrifying whirlwind of death.

 

I like one idea I saw put forth (I forgot where if one of you could tell me I'd greatly appreciate it) that Slash is smarter than the other Dinobots but still has a verbal tic but instead of caveman speak it's more like "I Slash say we go left" and is seen as the kid sister to the others. But that's only Slash.

I usually depict Slash the same way the Bayformers presented the Arcee triplets, a single mind that controls three bodies. The only twist is Slash is more animal than Autobot. She does understand others but due to her split mind is limited in speech. Not dumb but it takes more effort to speak instead of snarling, screeching, or whopping calls. As a result she usually stays in raptor mode unless she needs to use her blasters.

 

Not trying to make an argument but limited intelligence and poor speech aren’t really personality traits

As a therizinosaur, or really any other cool dinosaur I like that I haven't seen yet as a space robot version. I want more dinosaurs.

 

I like your interpretation, I do want her to not go to far from the rest of the dinobots personality wise and the difference just being she is lighter and faster in comparassion.
Also like her being a little sister type.

She would be the Equalizer in battles, like Jetfire-sized. Personality? Like a titan.

I would agree with those who say just like any other Dinobot.

That said, IF you wanted to do something different with a female Dinobot, I'd like to point out fans to a dinosaur book illustrated by paleoartist Luis Rey called, "A Field Guide to Dinosaurs." In the book, the author, Henry Gee IIRC, imagines what dinosaurs would have been like if you were to go back and observe them as living animals. Therefore, he gives them all sorts of behaviors and biological quirks for which there is no evidence of in the fossil record, like Acrocanthosaurus being a dinosaur that gives birth to live young, or Iguanodon eating chicks of other dinosaurs, including its own species.

Probably the most bizarre of the dinosaurs described is the arguably generic-looking small theropod Scipionyx samniticus, which is only known from a single Italian juvenile specimen preserving some evidence of soft tissues. In the book, Scipionyx is depicted as being parthenogenetic and having a super fast lifespan. The species is all female and produces clutches of identical octuplets, and hatchlings develop quickly and have offspring of their own within weeks of hatching. All have deceased after a few months of life, although most perish from predation and so on. The reason for this super fast life cycle is so the dinosaur can take advantage of ephemeral but abundant food resources, like the carcasses of large dinosaurs.

Now imagine a generic-looking female Dinobot with the ability to produce her own offspring. She could soon literally make herself an army of smaller Dinobots that do her will! I think that could be insane.

I wouldn't portray her any different than any Cybertronian. If I had my way, I'd have gender swaps all over the place without changing the animation models at all. Why would space robots have to conform to some human archetype or standard?

 

I would have her be a stand-out in one particular trait above the others. Have her be the smartest, or be the strongest or have the best aim.
As far as what type of dino she would be, see, the thing is the original 5 covered pretty much all the bases with regards to dinosaur body types, since most dinos are derivatives of others. In Slash's case, while no raptor was represented in the original group, it is like a mini t-rex.
Maybe bend the rules a bit and not have be a dino but still be a prehistoric beast? like a sabretooth tiger, or a mastodon, and then have her fight (not literally) to be accepted as part of the group

 

I was going to say I wouldn't want Slash as smarter or dumber than the other Dinobots, but after a second thought, having her as a little more intelligent would go along with her dromaeosaurid alt-mode when compared to other Dinosaurs. I wouldn't want her to be a Wheeljack-level genius level, but craftier and more strategic than her partners, absolutely. Also put me in for her having the same speech patterns as the other Dinobots.
I'm also one of those that bought multiples of Slash to make a pack (5 in my case). I haven't decided if I want her as a Movie Arcee-like hive-mind like suggested above, or just 5 different bots that look identical.

 

Besides physical sexual dimorphism, I wouldn't want to portray a "female Dinobot" any differently than any other Dinobot.

Slash particularly? Something that's themed similarly to the others, but still unique. Maybe she could have a level of the endearing 'slow speech' patterns that the other Dinobots have, but is more philosophical. (yes, just like the meme, sue me)

Because having them look like a variety of humans helps us to better identify with them. And I mean all kinds of fit, tall, fat, short, attractive, ugly people.

 

Yes. With a lot of spunk considering her smaller size as a Velociraptor.

 

If I wanted to introduce a character into that group and it's a female, I'd make her kinda nuts. Irrational. Insanely violent sometimes, prone to wild mood swings.
Like a Dinobot but more unstable. Less predictable. That can be played as a liability at first, but then it can be played as a strength later.

Sounds fun. It'd play havok with our understandings of how transformers are made. One lone animal can do this weird thing. That'd be superfun.

(also, I believe that all G1 Transformers are fully insane. You just need to pick which kind of insanity yours has)

 

I'll use Slash because I'm quite fond of her (maybe because she hasn't been given a crappy IDW character 'yet'.)

I'd portray her as being along the lines of Swoop and Sludge, in terms of being friendly to Prime and his team. Whereas Grimlock (due to his arrogance and pride) Slag (Being an asshole) and Snarl (being antisocial and not the best team player), Swoop, Sludge and Slash would be more willing to give Prime and the other Autobots a chance. She gets along pretty well with her team, even Slag, and takes his digs towards her in good stride. It'd be amusing if she had a bit of a bratty streak due to hanging around them for so long.

Maybe she likes to roughhouse with the others, since she's so tiny she likes to sometimes sit on the shoulders or backs of her teammates. Her main thing is being a tracker, sorta like Hound, they'd probably get along really well. I don't see her being a fighter on the same level as Grim or even Swoop, but she's incredibly scrappy, and good with her blades. Maybe she could be more of a saboteur than a front-line warrior, but there are definitely some situations where she can put up a good fight.
