    Challenge accepted!

Now then .. where can I get a basketball and pair of horns for under $8? And the horns must, of course, scale well with a basketball. (I have both a regulation size ball, and that smaller one, but would prefer to get a new ball, not try to clean the old one out in the garage.)

... but what about the pointy beard? What to use there? Hmm...

Any relation to Jared from Subway? :p

I did a quick check and apparently the Sail Barge was available internationally but after the item was funded.

And I understand what you're saying about how it's important for the support there, though I feel like part of cheapening the toy would include more obvious kibble so that more of the leg could be hollowed out but while still giving room for structure supports. This would take a TON of changes, but I don't think it's impossible to use this toy as the basis for a cheaper product.

The Binding of Isaac card game kickstarter hit its funding goal in like 10 minutes IIRC.

Generally I find something like this to be the case, at least with most Kickstarters. We only have one Haslab crowdfund to work off of as a reference, unfortunately.

Thanks for your input. I'm just not sold on Hasbro construction. I feel like this is less Masterpiece and more a huge CHUG. I would love to see drawings on the Zeta one.

I still don't understand where people were getting MP from. I mean, I guess it has mostly articulated hands? In general the engineering feels more like a beast wars neo toy that isn't a pain in the ass to transform, and effectively makes the shell less noticeable. I feel if this was to be considered MP the shell would need to be properly hidden.

Just like all the MP add on items for that "One Time"! You just take off the head to say you can and scratch that itch knowing you always can if you want but in reality never do.

The GST and PST are changed up front. These will be shipping directly from Quebec, as they did with the Sail Barge. If it was coming from the USA Hasbro would not have charged Canadian taxes.

    And?

Like, this is very much NOT an MP Unicron. It's straight up marketed as fitting with the WFC/Siege toys.

    I'm cool with that.

I think he's referring to the several people earlier in the thread that were claiming this was MP.

I'll definitely be one of the backers at this rate..
I'm hoping they reveal at least one more surprise before I bite the bullet.
I'll probably have to cancel my MP44 preorder, which is sooooo hard to do at this point.
This really is the hardest collecting decision I've ever had to make. And August 31 is right around the corner... o_O

A typical crowdfunding campaign on a crowdfunding site is generally screwed if they don’t get 25% funded in the first two days. Some of that doesn’t apply perfectly here because I don’t think Hasbro has a huge base cruising every day looking to fund something.

You need 25% in the first 48 hours. You can expect around 25% in the final 48, which I expect Hasbro to be closer to crowdfunding sites on. Once you hit 100%, the floodgates open.

EBay gets traffic at the last minute because of buyer competition and buyers trying to keep the final price down/avoid competition.

Where we’re at right now, we’re going to close at probably a bit under 6000 backers. If it spikes, retailers made up the difference.

It may be that the present numbers fail to include international orders that count towards the total but if so, Hasbro’s dumb not to find a way to tally them because it costs them backers in the US. People are more likely to back a healthy looking project. Being 100% funded triggers a lot of orders.

And let’s be clear: Hasbro’s acting as its own retailer here which is why I think they could sell a couple 1000 to BBTS at a markdown to get funded. Fixed costs are surely huge here but Hasbro isn’t selling these at cost plus card processing plus shipping. They can afford to sell part of this run to a retailer at a discount if it covers fixed costs.
