Ok gang, because the chest windows are on friction hinges, you can easily pop and swap. However I'm not sure if I want to stick with it. The red seems to be deeper on the DOTM version by virtue of it being painted on opaque blue plastic as opposed to clear plastic.

What do you guys think?

 

I did, I really did but Drift just looks so awesome.

Now that I think about it, imma get Dropkick since he seems to be in higher demand than Drift.

 

It's a tough call. I see what you mean about the deeper red but the various shades are red on Prime all fluctuate a little bit that I think the clear windows don't stand out that much.

I'm curious though. Is the silver paint on the inside or outside of the windows on the DOTM version? It wouldn't be too difficult to take some rubbing alcohol and try to strip the silver off.

You're right on the reds fluctuating, though I think the red of the clear windows and the 07/ROTF abs match up color wise as do the DOTM abs and non-clear windows, and because those are front and center on his body when you swap them the slight difference in red becomes a bit more noticeable. The thing to note about the DOTM Leader windows is that they are molded in blue plastic, and the red and silver are painted on top of that. So unfortunately removing the silver wouldn't particularly help there....

Man I'd love to see a generations select style line for movie figures that focused on either new characters or characters from the video games or comics. Thundercracker gives me a little hope. Although I feel like if Hasbro wanted to make one they'd have done it by now.

Same here, I found my long haul at a Target, USA. No sign of dotm Optimus or the deluxes though unfortunately, just the two voyagers.

They do look great together! The optimus looks even better now that you've also added the blue.
