Hahahahaha! Yep, that does make it easier. But poor Kaname is not there for Messer. So far I don't hate Arad. Just sucks that he is only in there a bit more than Chuck. He should be the series Roy, but guess Messer sort of plays that role. Plus he and the Captain dude (I forget his name) seem like the two old pervs uncle types so far.
FWIW, I just enabled myself talking about it and ordered Banpresto SQ Kaname. It was the last Walkure I needed to have all five so I figured wth, I just got the 31E recently to finish the Valk set so why not?
That looks really cool! I like how you put them with the Valks as well. I should have known they made a Mirage figure. Thanks for the preview!
The Banpresto figures are a lot bigger than I thought they were! I don't know I've seen any side-by-sides like that. They're bigger than the figuarts zero ones it looks like?
I never thought Banpresto was bigger than Figuarts Zero but you are right, the two next to each other do make it look that way. It could have something to do with the angle and Makina being bigger than Mirage but I’ll try to dig some of those figures out to do a closer comparison.
A quick shot of Figuarts Zero Sheryl and Ranka (Glowing Red) from the first Frontier Movie and Banpresto SQ Mirage (Flightsuit) Totally different scale as you can see.
I don't get too caught up on perfect scale personally, though I know (and understand why) it's important to many. It is pretty cool that HMR seems fairly spot on with scale though. If I had caught on to that in the early releases and really wanted scale, I would've gone crazy in the HMR line.
HMR is sweet! Yeah, I don't care much about scale as long as they are close enough. With Macross, we get set scales for most Valks so it is easy and makes sense for me to display smae scales together. For action figures of human like characters, the scale varies depending on the manufacturer as we have a pretty wide rage that are all considered 1/12 and they all work together for me. Especially when posed dynamically, the slight differences are not noticeable. For statues that I can't pose, it makes a bigger difference but in the end, these Macross figures are just accessories to my Valks and nowhere near the main attraction so I really don't care. I have SHF for Freyja and Mikumou and those are noticeably smaller than the SHF Zero and Banpresto figures of the other characters so I keep those two together and use stands to make up the difference.
I'm confused. @Slave IV 's pictures made it look like the figuarts zero Mirage was noticeably smaller than the Banpresto Makina, but @borgified 's picture makes them seem about the same. The figuarts zero Mirage seems to only barely come up to the VF-31's waist, which is like, 6"? And those look like act 5 stands, so the Banpresto figures are... 8" or so? So are the figuarts zero Macross Frontier figures bigger than the Delta ones? Thought I might pick up one or two, but trying to find any that aren't all... fanservicey, and are also not noticeably different sizes from each other, is harder than I thought.
My pictures are at different angles so it might be causing a slight optical delusion. If it is a big concern to you, I'd say to just buy a set from the same line...Banpresto makes all the characters and I think overall, those are the better deal for price and what you get.
Sheryl is on stilettos so that's why she and Mirage are at the same height (not counting the heels). If Sheryl is flat on her feet, then she will be maybe roughly 6.75 inches. Mirage is 7 inches and Ranka is 6.25 inches with heels. Like @Slave IV mentioned, get the Banpresto version. Edit: I still have the corresponding stands still in bags until I get a Macross display set up.
