I don't know. I could see it for the main cast, but I recently found out why there's no OT or PT Aliens in the ST. Because they are.

Remember how people pointed out that the 'Ottegan' looked like an Ithorian knockoff? Well, the original design for it and even the 3D models that Jake Lunt Davies offered to EA for Battlefront had it labeled "Ithorian". See, Jake designs his creatures with emphasis on "realism," and by realism I mean randomly retconning monsters, like adding a human mouth for no reason. In other words some of the new aliens in the movies are actually his attempts at updating old aliens or simply wanting to do them his own way. Those fat slug guys in the casino of TLJ? His attempt at "updating" Hutts. The "Bravaisians" are actually his attempt at "fixing" the Kubaz species. This may be why they are so hesitant to re-introduce Bothans: because Jake wanted to make his own version. Remember those earless horse-dog guys from TFA and TLJ? Like the one supreme chancellor who got blown up in TFA? Well that's what Jake wanted them to be.

Well, which is worse? Retconning them or having the Empire and the First Order carrying out genocide as part of their Human supremacy agenda and exterminating or nearly exterminating the previous aliens? Because I have been told that is what Disney is going with in the latest books.

Really makes you think about the New Republic getting rid of the military while that was happening.

Geez. At least the Empire is actually honest about their discrimination towards aliens/non-human species.

While I agree with you that I could see this more likely applying to the main cast doesn’t changing the aliens sort of support that theory? The residuals for using OT stuff. I really, really, really, really hope that’s not the case because that would just absolutely suck if they jettisoned OT aliens over paying Lucas simple residuals. Jake Lunt Davies is a pretty talented designer but I don’t see why we need to replace aliens rather than add to aliens...and if it’s over a simple 25% that’s the lamest fucking thing I’ve heard.

I have no idea what the timing of all that would be but I am 100% behind making the First Order anti-alien. It absolutely drove me mad that Lucas never made the Imperials a humanist / anti-alien political movement. It was absolutely visually intended by the OT and he just sort of left it out of the PT.

What I remember is someone from a podcast gave him a "Your Snoke Theory Sucks" sticker during an interview, and he kinda joked around about it. After that it kinda snowballed. Johnson wasn't the only one who ran with it though. JJ and some of his team were making jokes along those lines too, IIRC.

Well, the problem I have is that if they were committing genocides, it makes the whole fleet thing ridiculous.

Which Fleet thing? Didn’t the New Republic have a Fleet? Isn’t that the whole point of Starkiller killing the NR Fleet?

The NR didn't have a military fleet. It had a defense fleet for the capital. The original idea in TFA was the FO was a terrorist cell that didn't have the resources to destroy the defense fleet, and so made the space opera equivalent to a nuke to take out the enemy capital / military base.

BTW, here's the dossier on the theme parks OC DONUT STEAL main character

    1) I am just going from the movie. General Hux,

“Today is the end of the Republic.

The end of a regime that acquiesces to disorder.

At this very moment in a system far from here, the New Republic lies to the galaxy while secretly supporting the treachery of the rogues of the Resistance.

This fierce machine which you have built, upon which we stand will bring an end to the Senate, to their cherished fleet.

All remaining systems will bow to the First Order and will remember this as the last day of the Republic!”

I assume from the dialogue the Fleet is of some import, otherwise that a lot of hullabaloo about nothing.

    2) Oh good she knits.

In regards to the Lucas/Disney/Bad Robot rights situation….

I have no trouble believing that Lucas having known from the beginning (even prior to ANH being completed) that merchandising is where the true money is, made sure he still gets revenue. I also have no trouble believing Disney wants to maximise their profits and Bad Robot wanted as big as a slice of the money as possible.

HOWEVER, the new movies minimising the roles of the old characters isn't my problem. There aren't that many characters who appear in all six previous movies: R2, 3PO, Kenobi (with only a glorified cameo as a Ghost in two of them) and arguably Anakin (but not really). And it helps those movies. Personally, I would've preferred the sequals to have take place a lot more into the future, not with the son of Han & Leia nor with any of those old characters. Only R2 and 3PO in a role and the ghost of Luke would've been enough (plus some dialogue referances).

To me the possibly merchanside rights and the minimisation of the old characters isn't what causes my dislike with these new movies. Not at all.

Interesting piece on the park problem

MiceAge Disneyland Rumor Update – Promising the Moon

Sure, it's not confirmed, but it explains so much. All the named shop owners and aliens with bios and descriptions who don't exist, and all the little details and the obviously vacant areas feeling like they're missing essential occupants, it all makes sense. Not to mention all the treads and footprint markings from droids and animals in the park despite their absence.

I don't know about setting it further in the future, but I do think they have actually overused the OT characters (while not utilizing the right ones) in the ST. Han should never have so heavily featured in TFA, imo. Leia was fine in TFA, but then they over-relied on her in TLJ. For Luke, he really should have only been used as much as Obi-Wan was in the OT. And then, the two OT characters we should have seen a LOT more of: Artoo and Threepio -- those are the two characters that are suppose to tie the entire (Skywalker) Saga together...

You are missing the best part of that bit of that story "...Vi has come to appreciate the simple pleasures of knitting garments with wool from all over the galaxy." Wool is canon. Apparently it is widely available across the entire galaxy, even though I don't recall ever seeing a single sheep. I guess it can come from different mammals, maybe. Maybe bantha wool, tauntaun wool. Maybe there is a race of sentient beings who shave their own body hair and sell it as wool. Wool from Ewoks or Wookies? Side note: Wool is a weird word to say and spell repeatedly.

That is an excellent point! I completely forgot about nerfs! Apparently, they are a wonder animal, much like pigs of Earth food-wise and apparently nerf wool was used to make luxuriously soft and water-absorbing towels. Good to know!

The reason that no aliens showed up in the Imperial forces in ANH was because they had used up most of the budget on alien costumes in the Cantina scenes. Writers ran with this and made the Empire Anti-Alien, with only a few non-humans (like Thrawn) holding any sort of rank.

The old lore had a few “Human Suprematist” groups, and some Anti-Human groups during the day’s of the Empire. Of course one has to wonder about the existence of humans identical to the earth species are doing in a galaxy far, far away... ;-)
