Does anyone that owns 3A premium figures experience this? Does this happen to premium figures in general like Hot Toys?
I haven't handled mine too much but I agree with Balzari, that this looks more like paint rub than chipping, especially considering where's it happening. I'm assuming that the weathering paint didn't have good adhesion on the plastic, and maybe they didn't spray a clear top coat on it after the weathering was applied (just a guess). Seems we need to check after handling it to see if there's paint on our fingers.
I have their TLK Optimus and he's pretty perfect paint-wise after having had him for a half a year now. However I take great care when posing him and I haven't stared at the details enough to notice if there was slight weathering wear. He's just so chock full of amazing detail and awesomeness though that I wouldn't notice unless it was a major thing.
I have all their "premium" scale Transformers so far as well as "deluxe" Bumblebee. There is no bare plastic anywhere on any of them. Every inch is painted. The paint is perfect on every single one and extremely durable. I don't know what the previous comments are about anything unpainted or paint/weathering coming off. It just doesn't happen with ThreeA/ThreeZero.
How big does an average human figure need to be to scale well with this guy? Any good human figure lines that will scale?
I have her and shes good but a TAAAAD too small... I think a GI Joe sized figure is better... I repainted a Joe scale John Cena figure to go with mine and works great
Isn’t bee only supposed to be 10ft tall? Making a 6ft adult human come up to around the tops of his thighs? The GI joe looks a little too small to me.
FIgures like marvel legends seem too big though, and there are a lot of good figures in that scale so I don't know what to do...
Just got Bee in today. His joints were uber tight. I almost used up a whole bottle of silicone shock oil to lube his joints, especially the legs. They're still tight, but not scarey tight that you'd think they'd snap. My first non-transforming transformer figure. I'm impressed with the detail and articulation on this guy. Have to wait til tomorrow to get batteries for his light function. Definitely getting Blitzwing and Optimus when they come out. Hopefully they'll come out with Cliffjumper, Shatter and Dropkick. Strongly considering getting the Premium figures, but they might take up a lot of space.
Don't think I've posted my appreciation for this Bee yet, but he might just be the best figure I've ever owned. Sculpt is amazing, paint and materials are phenomenal and articulation is more than satisfying. I'm already in on Prime and Blitwing, and won't hesitate to order any other DLX release.
Well,... That is a huge bummer to hear. I wish there was some way to help and I hope that this isn't going to be a problem with future releases. Have you tried contacting them about the warranty? It takes a while but I have gotten replacements for broken parts so long as I have properly registered my product. I don't know what they would do about a whole figure with paint coming off. Maybe there is a difference between 1st and 2nd batch... Maybe something has changed with ThreeA going away and merging with ThreeZero. As I've said, I've had no problem with paint on my BB (not that I have actively tried to get the paint to come off) but I have Prime, Nemesis and Blitzwing preordered and I really hope there is no problems with them. I really hope there is that there is some recourse for you. It really is a great figure and I have a lot of their products so this sound very irregular to me.
Personally I've not had a problem with the paint on my figure. I've even tried rubbing the dirt off the yellow plastic (at least it seems like yellow plastic), the inside of the yellow armour where there is some over spray. I only used a baby wipe but after rubbing quite vigorously the dirt stayed where it was. The baby wipe was still bright white.
Cheers man. I'm on holiday at the moment but will show some pics when I'm back. I have two so an easy comparison can be made, especially on the feet. It isn't disastrous by a long shot but something's up with the final finish for sure on my display one. As for warranty, I already received a replacement bumper piece for one of them as it arrived broken. Not having a whole lot of luck here, but it remains a phenomenal figure
