How interesting, I thought it was my poor handling of J4ZZ that made his waist break but it sounds like it's a common issue. I tried everything to fix it, model glue, cyanoacrylates, even redrilling the broken peg, but no dice.

He's now in Porsche mode in storage, and Downbeat took his place.

Still a great toy and I wish I could get GT to offer a replacement waist, but they don't really exist any longer, do they?

Mine did the exact same thing. Was able to glue it back together, permanent robot mode. Just snapped totally apart

I am amazed that all these reports are just now surfacing. My predicament this morning felt isolating, but it’s nuts that it’s so common. I’m sorta eager for Downbeat now too

I mean, Downbeat's okay and all (not amazing but good), but if you were intending to have an IDW Jazz, Downbeat's going to disappoint as it's a G1 aesthetic, not similar to J4ZZ.

My J4ZZ has been perfect from day one. I'm surprised to hear this issue.

For sure. I’m just wondering if I need a classic looking Jazz at all anymore. I mean I love the Porsche mode, but I also love the solstice mode of the upcoming MPM, and that one has a “breaking” waist as an intended feature! :D
Jazz was cool in IDW, but he’s not one of the first characters I think of when the continuity comes to mind either. And since I’m not trying to be an MP IDW completionist anymore, I’m willing to let him go despite the dope car mode (and the break doesn’t help either)

Yeah, this is a HUGE disappointment for me. I don't want Downbeat in my collection, in fact the closest that matches what I want would be to pick up the old Generations one and just give up. I really hate the current bland MP "toon style" and Downbeat falls into that category. *sigh*

Hearing about the waist breakage is kind of making me glad I sold my copy a couple months back.

Thanks for the picture. shame about that, especially since he's a great representation. If i were to guess (I'm o engineer, so this is an uneducated guess) that the screws in his posterior are to tight for that specific type of plastic. Still, I won't rist messing with mine, I have a history of taking something that works ok but not great, and 'fixing' it. And by fixing I mean being a total idiot (he's better now, managed to glue him back together, retaining his posability).

I krazy glued mine, looks perfect and everything still works/articulates. Exact same break. It has sat on a shelf and I just recently moved it, then plop half falls off.

yeah glue that shit carefully and it'll transform like nothing happened imo. If you do splooge a bit over, you could just use a small blade to scrape/cut that off

As far as I've seen no one has any stock left, even broken ones are going for like $200 on ebay last I looked.

Me too. I think he was the first one out but others had announced Jazzes so I held back on the one I wanted only to get a few who look exactly the same.
