Was it as bad as Adam Sandler in Mr. Deeds? And if so, did he let his teammates hit it with a fireplace poker?

It’s pretty easy to find the picture of it. It’s pretty much covered in blisters. That would be funny to see his Raiders teammates lining up for that though.

And to make matters worse, the man has been bitching about his new helmet for the last week on Twitter but has not said one word about the passing of Steelers wide receivers coach Darryl Drake. Yeah, he doesn’t play for the Steelers anymore, and we certainly don’t want him anymore either, but this was a man he worked with all of last year. AB has shown more sympathy towards a 10 year old helmet than a man that much of the team looked up to and leaves behind 3 kids.

The thing is that other players (notably Rodgers and Brady) had similar issues with having to switch to a new helmet, and due to the rules they in effect got a one year grace period to find something new. And the NFL hadn't banned AB's helmet till he made an issue out of it this summer. They should just let him use it this year and get a new one for next year.

Meanwhile Washington's QB situation is even worse than I thought. Looks like its going to be Keenum, at least to start the season. They let McCoy play on a broken leg last year because of a non-existent chance to make the playoffs. And now he's wrecked. This franchise is such a clown show. I don't blame Williams for not wanting to play for them anymore.

    Also, RIP Cedric Benson.

XFL team names and logos were announced today. Does anyone even care? Should we even make a thread? Will it even last a season?

Since it’s technically WWE-owned I think anything XFL-related stays in the wrestling thread, but that’s just me.

I care. I liked the AAF personally. Its only problem is that they didn’t have enough money to maintain it even though it got solid ratings. I don’t see the same thing happening with Vince McMahon backing it and likely taking lessons from the AAF and the original XFL. I’m curious to see if they can sign away any college stars or major high school recruits since they are not beholden to the “3 years removed from high school” rule. Some kid out there will be tempted with the promise of a $50,000 contract that’s completely legal rather than taking a chance on college scholarships and risking injuries in acquiring the necessary playing time.

Report: Colts' Andrew Luck to announce retirement

That genuinely sucks. Andrew Luck seems like such a nice guy, and he’s a natural talent at the position. The old front office of the Colts should be ashamed of the offensive lines they trotted out in front of Luck during most of his career. Injuries just piled up too much even though he’s a tough SOB.

I never forgave the SOB for costing the Raiders the playoffs 2 years ago when he took out Carr in Week 15 so him retiring? Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but the Raiders weren’t winning anything that year even with Carr. They won so many close games, and as we’ve seen the last few years, that’s rarely a sustainable formula. Also, their defense was somehow still terrible even when they had an elite player like Khalil Mack
