This thread has devolved into an argument about the definition of a scalper.

Because he ascribes to the idea that scalping is not merely re-selling, but also the act of artificially increasing the scarcity by monopolizing the stock.

That's impossible to do in this scenario, as it currently stands, so in Ramberk Magnus' opinion, it's not scalping.

We'll leave it at that, since the discussion over what one personally considers scalping was already put through its paces on the previous pages.

Yes let us get back to the task at hand, Unicron.
So let's discuss why he's so inconsistent in his depictions in the Movie & TV Show.

Except, tickets for an event are limited to a certain number AND date - there is a scarcity of both availability and time. There is no "concert date" that renders the toys worthless after a certain point, there is the option to wait for a restock, order from another place in the country, or wait for demand to die and pick up on the secondary market.

    This here describes it best.

Poor cookie monster, everyone tell all your friends and family about poor old cookie monster may not get made, without all of there help. Look at cookie monster on the pulse hone page waving goodbye to all. Also, I have not read a single post about CM not being show accurate, or has too much for kibble, or his eyes to mouth proportions are off.

I remember a perfectly nice cookie monster at EE for $25.
Now if only we had a smaller Unicron option to match.

You know, if anything, I wonder if we'll get a leader-class shrunken Unicron. ;)

he's a transformer and can change his appearance at will (which was something I was/am sort of against especially in regards to the live-action films where they can swap forms at will rather than being modified externally/internally)

    LMAO !!!
Yeah it looks like cookie monster is about to meet his maker. But real talk, I dont think BBTS is gonna step up and buy close to 5000 Unicrons. Hasbro is going to face a huge backlash if this project fails. They basically outted everyone else in the world and put all the weight on the shoulders of American collectors. Hasbro wanted high end collectors to appear out of thin air. Theres only so many of us. There was no reason why they couldnt have included all pre-orders worldwide to hit the 8000 mark. Oh wait, I can think of only one reason....greed. Pure greed on the part of Hasbro. I highly suggest all you high end collectors around the world give Hasbro hell if this project fails and they try to put the blame on American collectors.

If that was true they would have made it worldwide. (cause that means more $$$)

Also yeah, making money is indeed the reason companies exist.... idk why we keep expecting Toy companies to be non profit :lolol

I literally do not understand how some people think that companies do anything BUT try to put money into their own pockets. What, you're gonna tell us the sky is blue and that the sun rises in the morning next?

Hasbro only engages us fans because we keep coming back. If we didn't then they would've dropped us like old hat years ago.

Because eighties cartoons were about selling merchandise not creating consistent works of fiction.

People claim that the Michael Bay movies ruined their childhood, I would argue that rewatching the original cartoons as an adult is watch actually ruins 80s nostalgia.

Wait toy companies aren't non-profits? They don't want to operate at a loss to help the poor collector get a prized item for their collection? That is so heartless. Next thing you are going to tell me is that the people who work for the toy companies aren't volunteers that just have a passion for the product so live in shanty towns outside the headquarters and eat unhealthy ramen all day!

Maybe for you. Not for most of us. All you have to do is follow some of the conversations here to realize that a lot of people rewatch the original show & movie (and reread the Marvel comics) semi-regularly, and it doesn't seem to make a dent on most people's continued enjoyment whatsoever. Some of us even enjoy the cheesiness more now as adults than we did as kids in the '80s.

About this Unicron: Yes, it looks amazing. It's a giant step up from the Armada figure. But while I was super-excited to get the (at the time) amazing Armada Unicron figure back in the day, what I realized once I actually had him in hand was that I don't actually care much about Unicron as a character. So even if I had the money, I doubt I'd get this.

You dont get it do you ?

There arent 8000 big ticket Transformers collectors in North America. There just arent. Hasbro knows this. They cant fart collectors out their ass and make them exist.. At the end of the day, NOT COUNTING foreign preorders toward the 8000 was pure greed. If they really were doing this for the fans like they say they are, they would open it up worldwide once they realized they made a HUGE overestimate in the number of high budget collectors in North America. They would have gotten their 8000 for sure problem solved. But ih no, they wanted to dump responsibility on American fans so they can point the finger at us when the project fails. They can tell Japan, China, Euorpe, Australia and everyone else, "blame America tjat you didnt get Unicron. They will say it at cobvention pannels. So yes it is PURE GREED that they wanna shove this figure down American collectors throats and pressure us alone to make it happen for the whole world. If Ubicron doesnt get made, its not the American fans fault. Its Hasbros. You cant blame mythical fans that never existed. But you can blame a greedy corporation for not "tweaking" the program when they realized their predicted numbers were way the f**k off.

People still don't know how crowdfunding usually goes I see.

Start bitching about low numbers the last couple of days before it's over folks, because until then you're just wasting your time ranting about it.

8000 high budget collectors worldwide is logical. 8000 high budget collectors in North America alone is absurd. Thats where the pure greed part comes in. Hasbro, if you want your 8000, open up pre-orders to the whole world and you will get your 8000. But if you want to try and force 15,000 or more units to get made by shaming collectors that dont exist, then F**K YOU HASBRO !!! And F**K your S**T for brains corporate strategist for grossly overestimating the number of fans in North America. Fire that guy. Yeah I said it. So yeah...keep defending Hasbro for the biggest troll job in the history of the brand and its loyal fandom. Keep up the "companies are here to make money" comments. It doesnt help. It would be more helpful if you could start farting out American collectors like spring loaded missiles.
