I'd love to see a pic of the head with the dab of yellow. I too feel like the translucent eye gets lost

Does anyone know if anything like this exists for MP-29+? I know the eye size is different so the one for MP-29 won't work most likely.

Both of them together is quite an incredible thing. They’re such beautiful homages and were made at such a similar time.

 

Open up the body, and remove the two screws holding the front part of the chest in. The silver backing part is still held on more than well enough by a third screw in the middle. Once you've removed those two screws, the chest fronts can be swapped out pretty easily. They also hold in absolutely fine with friction alone.

 

I kept my mp29 too and might do hw chest swap. Great idea, @Sam

 

Hmm, could also throw other things in there as well. Like chest designs or printed memes.

 

The silver part isn't smooth, so it wouldn't be as easy to do that since there's no smooth flat surface pressing on the back of it (unlike with Soundwave's chest options).

 

...i picked silver meggsie on an admittedly irrationally-exuberant impulse, and he's glorious, but with takara's new direction he may well end up being my last masterpiece figure...my greatest worry is that takara turns around and offers an absurdly-overpriced toy-slavish MP-44 companion piece, so you may have dodged a bullet!...

Here's mine. I am a LOUSY painter and customizer, but even I was able to carefully disassemble the head, paint the eye part yellow, let it dry, and reassemble.

I don't mind losing the light pipe effect at all. Even in low light, the yellow painted eye has a little "pop" to it!


The drawback is that the back of his head still has the light piping, but I rarely ever look at the back, so I can live with it!

Bit late to the discussion but IMHO MP-29+ is the superior version. Indeed I think he's the version MP-29 always should have been. I sold my MP-29 not long after getting him, I just could not get on with the colour, I don't care if its 'show accurate' to my eye it looks wrong, he was depicted a deeper purple way more than the lavender of MP-29 and then there was the lack of paint. I don't need every figure I owe to be covered head to toe in paint, indeed sometimes thats a pain in the ass as he various moving parts rub and chip the paint, but the bare lavender plastic looked 'cheap' and toy-like. The whole packaged felt incomplete to me. So (for the first time) i turned to 3rd party to scratch the Shockwave itch I now had, and I got Cloud9 Quakeblast instead who although not preferable in sculpt was at least the 'right' colour, and he did me for the interim...until MP-29+ was announced, Like @onnsake I didn't like paying over the odds for him and was a little annoyed that I had to for what I felt should have been the original release...however aside from being a tad too small for my liking (in my book Shockwave is taller/bulkier) he is the best MP style Shockwave out there and I'm glad I have him in my collection. I don't miss MP-29 one bit and when I see him today I just think it was a mistake that thankfully TT rectified. The difference is night and day to me.

 

Man he’s so beautiful. I don’t think I’ve actually seen any good pictures of MP-29+ and MP-36+ next to each other.

I’ve never actually seen it on him. I assumed he didn’t cause he was mall exclusive or something.

 

TFSourse has MP-36+ on sale for $169.99 for customer appreciation. I was never interested in him before but he's mighty tempting at that price.
