Slag was named referring to molten refuse from processing metal, not for the British derogatory term. That would be on the Brits for deciding "slag" would be used for their unsavory women as well.

You named "Foo" as such for his martial artistry prowess. That's totally different context. You aren't naming him for the UFO phenomenon that happens to sound the same; you're using a cultural stereotype.

On top of that, Slag got his name changed to Slug because of the British use of the word.

So no, you can't name a Transformer "Foo" because they're a good martial artist.

 

What exactly were the writers planning to do with the whole Predacon thing in season four? I know there was some rough idea about Blackarachnia leading her own "army" of Predacons (four additional Predacon characters is a gang, not an army). Does anyone know the details about what they ultimately were going to do with her? Would she still be trying to lose her organic parts, or would she have basically embraced them by that point? Was she going to be killed? Redeemed? Or just left as a loose end?

 

I recognise Chop Shop, Tarantulas, and Kickback.

 

Come to think of it, were any scripts for season 4 actually completed before the series was shut down? I've seen plot summaries of S4's stories elsewhere, but not anything like a full teleplay with dialogue and scene breakdowns.

 

Welcome to the boards! To answer your question, no, no scripts for Season 4 were ever finished. The closest we got was when the whole cast got back together to voice the outline for the three-part opener "The Trial of Megatron" for a behind-closed-doors reading at the last TFNation convention in the UK.

And as for your question about Blackarachnia, nobody really knows. In the original production bible, created long before a lot of ideas were even finalized, it was suggested that Blackarachnia's arc could involve Optimus trying to help her accept her new form... but that would backfire, and she would come to think normal Cybertronians should all be destroyed to make way for her brand of Techno-Organic.

 

Hmm. Can't say I'm crazy about that particular outcome. Maybe it's for the best that the fate of some characters is left for fanfiction to decide. I'm already hard at work putting together 2 (yes, 2) stories about Blackarachnia's return to the Autobot faction: One set after the events of ENDGAME, another taking place within an alternate reality. Giving Elita-1 a happy - or at least happier - ending means so much to me, I'm actually losing sleep over it! Tragic "fallen" characters tend to do that to me, and fanfic is my only means of therapy.

 

What a coincidence. I'm also working on my own version of events beyond "Endgame," though it's a full Season 4, and not just a couple stories to wrap up loose ends.

 

A full season 4? As in, you're writing an entire 22-minute script for each episode from scratch? Damn, I wish I had that level of commitment.

If you haven't started yet on WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE (a flashback episode about Blackarachnia hooking up with the Decepticons), I wouldn't mind collaborating...  

 

Not exactly. I'm going to keep it in a written format, no plans to have it actually animated and voiced over. But yes, the idea is each chapter could have been a full 22 minute episode. I've already created rather detailed outlines for an entire season's worth, plus a TV movie. And that's just half of it.

As for collaborating on "Tangled Web," I'm open to it. It's going in the second half, and I've temporarily run out of a lot of steam after finishing the first half.
