    Here's my legs.
I don't see any "dirt" or battle damage.

If you look closely at the armored up pics you'll notice it's collapsed. ;)

I noticed that on my figure but didn't even think that was the battle damage stuff.
Not as noticeable as the other siege figures.

Is it wrong of me to refuse to acknowledge his Autobrand? He's the heavy hitter for the cons for me from this line. I really don't care for the armour either. Perfectly content with him being Skyfire before his ill-fated journey to prehistoric earth with Starscream .

Has anyone else noticed that Siege Jetfire is totally Don Figueroa's design? Go take a look at the old DW comic. There is a scene where the transformation is almost EXACT to the new figure.

The battle mask also appears to be heavily inspired by his artwork. specifically the 2004 dreamwave comics rendition before the generations toy forced the redesign in them.
...it’s just missing the side antenna/guns and red color of the visor section.

I just slapped a Decepticon symbol on the armored chest plate and called it good. Like a what if version of G1. Say he was recovered from the ice and reprogrammed by Shockwave to make use of his size and power without him questioning why. I look at the armor as a control harness to turn him into a mindless berserker.
It’s not canon but it works for me.

I like it! I actually envision the "computer terminal" in his cockpit as Shockwave's method of controlling Skyfire. Ahh fanon

Here is another neat little example of how similar the wing transformation is. The tips of the wings even fold up and back just like the Siege toy.

These similarities really make me like the toy even more.

Yea there are some obvious differences, but the little details are obviously inspiration for the Siege toy.

    More observations:
    • There are ratchets but mainly on the shoulders and hips. MAYBE elbows but it's hard for me to tell. Either the elbows have ratchets or very hard detents. The knees use detents.
    • If the chest isn't flush in robot mode, check the inside of the backplate towards the top. The shoulder plates have small pegs that go into shallow holes at the top. There are 2 per side. The shoulder pegs should be in the holes closest to the neck. Once they are in that position, the chest should seat flush in robot mode(though this is harder with the chest armor attached)
    • I don't think the light grey paint applied to the nose of the jet and legs is for battle damage. I think it may actually simulate burn marks for atmospheric re-entry, or haskaromy used the grey paint as a means to prevent yellowing. Who the hell knows
    • Compared to Classics and T30 Jetfire, the limbs on this are integrated much better in jet mode. You can't really tell where the arms went unless you look directly underneath. Meanwhile the legs don't hang out to the sides like T30 Jetfire.
    • Transformation is fairly easy. I find it more intuitive than T30 Jetfire.

To me, the Siege figure is directly influenced by the G1 character model, which is why it doesn't have the unnecessary helmet antenna.
The comics may borrow some of the design cues, but this figure is G1 through and through.

    Thats fair.

Theyre meant to be the same character so it may just be a case of parallel evolution.

I think this Jetfire does borrow some elements of Don's design for transformation. However there are some substantial differences that worked out for the better. For example, on Don's design, then arms tuck under the fuselage but in WFC Jetfire they go within the fuselage for a flush underside.

The helmet looks like it's inspired by Don's design and a few transformation elements. I'm pretty sure his work for DW/IDW was work for hire so technically Hasbro does own the iteration of Jetfire that he drew. WFC Jetfire is pretty much a hybrid of Jetfires through the years using the G1 Sunbow design as a base to build off of(which I still find shocking in a way since 20+ years ago I never thought Haskaromy would ever do it).

However...it may actually be possible that this Jetfire predates WFC by many years and was abandoned years back. Jetfire from the Infiltration comic was long thought to be designed by Don but it turned out that he had seen the prototype well ahead of release and decided to draw it in Infiltration.

Who knows, the construction tells me this Jetfire is a recent design but the design cues and knowing that Hasbro has sometimes saved designs for later...again who knows.

Really glad this Jetfire turned out the way it did.
