The front of the calves. Come on dude. You know the front should curve more than that, look at MP-36. It’s a small nitpick, otherwise the figure looks phenomenal to me. It’s not perfect though.

And some can’t handle the slightest critique.

I just like that they followed the original design for his legs instead of doing some stupid asymmetrical trick because they thought the handle was too thick.

Saw this on Facebook, some foreign group whose name I can't read (the beginning part) so I'll just copy it directly. No idea if it is their picture or not (I'd generally guess no), but the first look at Reflector's alt mode. 杯麵宅品 YU’S HOBBY LAND

After collecting MP for over a decade, i got into legends this week with the NA carbots.

Needless to say, the timing for these MS cons is excellent. They look amazing.

    Love it.

I am curious though - where's Shockwave? Seems a little odd to do the other 11 and not him. Will we see him a little bit later with Magic Square's own Insecticons?

probably it just takes magic square a few years to go from outline shadow reveal to unpainted test shot. then another few years to get to market.

I see people say this a lot I would be interested in a line of figures that were supper accurate and articulated with out transformation but also comes with separate alt mode. this would also salve mass shifting and aloue for a perfect scale. I get it, you want your transformers to transform but collectors put them on a shelf, pose them, and a lot of time buy multiple so one can be in vehicle mode and the other in bot mode. This solves that problem. Just a thought

I could see someone launching a line like that. There is an official licensed line of cars that had a G1 Optimus and Bumblebee.
I like Iron Factory's solution with a separate Megatron-shaped gun and Megatron that looks like the G1 robot mode.
I thought I saw a tiny gun mode Megatron in MS Soundwave's hand and in one of the earlier promo pics a tiny camera in one of the Seeker's hands.
And didn't NewAge Starscream have a tiny gun mode Megatron in his hands. So I think we might see that more and more with any figure involving mass shifting.
I would like to see more companies do the same for Soundwave, Blaster and Perceptor.

For a long long time I would have 100% been behind this (and picked up modern day ‘action masters’ like engineer general and the mega scfs). But getting in to legends class has actually changed my mind - I now find I really enjoy a good transformation, and personally wouldn’t be that interested in a figure without that element. I agree that leaving out transformations would make it a lot easier to tick all the boxes for a great robot mode though.

In a whim bought the Papa Toys version which are OS KO of PE. Way to sturdy to go with IF figures. The PE, the original version not the black ops or toy version, are to expensive for my taste.

The problem with the tiny IF Megs is that he is sold with IF Starscream.

I like transforming my figures and a whole collection with non transforming figures and their alt mode counterpart wouldn't do it for me.

But their are some non transforming figures that look very nice. Looking at you Flame Toys SG Optimus Prime and Skywarp!

I love the transformation as well. Wouldn't replace one with other just along side. and you all go to the extreme with megs and blaster/soundwave but simple as seakers verses minibots or look at DX9 prime verses MST magnus side by side looks great as bots but ault mode wow. thin you could get different ault modes (tetrajets). I see the constructicons on a shelf in all forms and never will a limb fall off por old Devey.

Reflector looks awesome! I am always excited for more Reflectors. Camera mode looks nice. I wish PE’s was a little bigger, and makes me want to invest in the slightly larger KO (not the Papa Toys one).

    1. Man, I really am contemplating a switch from MP to MP legends. I would have so much more room. Probably could sell off my MPs, fund the legends with that, and still have a profit left over.

That and all the impetuous is now in legends scale. 3p developing legends faster than MP. Also the cost considerations of MP.

And I feel like MP legends are all-around a whole lot more playable than regular MPs.

Only thing keeping me back is that catch up/starting from scratch feeling and actually selling off the MP collection cause I'm already lazy about selling off old stuff.

My impression is Magic Square is working off of the toy catalogs at this point, not the TV seasons. The silhouette in the first post of this thread has all of the 84 Decepticon catalog plus the mail-away Reflector. It came out shortly after another one that had released 1984 catalog Autobots and silhouettes for the rest of the catalog. I would expect they would move onto the 1985 catalog (which would include both Shockwave and the Insecticons) once they finish the 84 one, though repaints of these molds would probably come sooner.

I'm curious to see if they will do the whole 85 catalog, or just the ones that made the toon (talking about Roadbuster, Whirl, deluxe Insecticons, Omnibots to [can't remember what year they would be]). They did do Artfire and G2 Sideswipe who were never in a toon, but they were just repaints, not new molds. They didn't even bother to give Artfire his targetmaster.

For those who haven't seen them.

It is a tough call. I fully understand the dilemma wanting to start off something different.

Maybe cull something none essential and then try out something in legends. See how you feel about both before going all in or anything drastic.
