I am so glad I cancelled my order for Impactor in favor of the three pack. That head on Impactor looks so wrong. I am so looking forward to Spinister. I need more chopper bots.

 

I'm guessing we won't find this out until WfC 2, but I'm curious to see who they repaint/retool the new molds like Spinister, Astrotrain and Apeface into. Other than Astrotrain getting a toy accurate figure in Generations Selects I can't really think of anything else that fits these molds.

 

Sentinel prime could be an astrotrain repaint, apeface could be repainted as some version of Optimus primal (like the Takara titanmaster vehicle that came with convobat), no idea about spinister at the moment

 

Ah, yeah, hadn't thought of those... though given the current state of the fandom I could only imagine the fan rage if Apeface were retooled into a new Optimal Optimus.

 

To add to @tigatron2002's list, I'd say Spacewarp from Astrotrain and Cybertron Evac from Spinister would be at least somewhat sensible. Sentinel Prime is a bit of a weird one to me - not that the idea doesn't have merit, but that there are three reasonable ways to homage him (TR, Animated, DotM) and Hasbro might throw us a curveball.

I'd also say Transmetal Primal would be the best of the BW options for an Apeface repaint/rehead - the pre-TM figures wouldn't be well-represented looking so inorganic, and Optimal Optimus (a) has been done recently and (b) would also be the kind of figure Hasbro might want to save for doing properly if we do get a BW 25th line (think Siege Optimus - a standard version then a badass powered up one in the same year). Add in a hypthetical Snapdragon for TM Megatron to pair together and it sure seems like a thing Hasbro should do . . .

 

I was sort of expecting Apeface to be (extensively) retooled into Snapdragon. In any case that would still leave us with a gorilla and a T-Rex that they could later modify into Optimus Primal and BW Megatron. It might not be accurate, but they'd be pretty easy repaints/remolds. I'd buy them.

I would LOVE an updated TM Primal and Megatron retooled from Apeface and Snapdragon.

 

They all look great except Powerdasher Aragon...id probably just get the 3-pack and sell P.A....

 

Honestly, if they do homage Sentinel in Siege I'd like it to homage the Animated version. I also like the idea of getting Spacewarp from Astrotrain and Evac from Spininster.

As for my thinking on Optimal Optimus over Transmetal Optimus Primal... I was mostly considering the third jet mode would make more sense with Optimal Optimus, but if Optimus Primal were done in Siege this would be a pre-Earth design so really anything goes. Whoes to say that the BW characters aren't already on the scene in this iteration of G1?

And, you're right, I just compared Apeface and Snaprdragon (the original G1 figures) and I can see how with some extensive retooling you could get one from the other.

 

I would also love a G1 Sentinel Prime based on the Animated one as well, but considering Sentinel has his TR body style in the comic, it’s likely a new Sentinel isn’t in the cards anytime soon.

I’ve always wanted Energon Landmine retooled into an Animated-esque Sentinel Prime. Seems like something the club could have done.

My guess for Apeface is a heavy retool into his heterosexual life partner Snapdragon. Spinister could be any number of guys, but my money is possibly on a Whirl retool.

Astrotrain is kinda tough. Neither alt mode is super common otherwise...but maybe Armada Jetfire? Unlikely but would be welcome.

That would be a fake leg/shin actually. His cockpit doesn’t form his chest but he had a split cockpit on his G1 toy which they’ve replicated in Siege by giving him one that forms the actual cockpit and the other is to complete the look

 

I wonder if that means that either cockpit can be used for his alt mode.
