Sorry but that’s not a logical argument. You simply say Fortnite is therefore..... rather than looking at why it is. Piggybacking on someone else’s brand isn’t going to do anything for Joe. A good game does not guarantee success but you can’t have success without it. That’s logic.
No, that’s not what I said. A detailed brand analysis of Fortnite’s success is irrelevant to our discussion so your attempt to negate my argument with that requirement is known in logic as the avoiding the issue fallacy which not a logical argument at all but a logical fallacy. All that matters for our discussion about Joe cross-promoting with Fortnite is that Fortnite is successful and therefore has something of value to offer Joe; stating how or why Fortnite became popular is a deflection and irrelevant to the discussion about Joe. And the idea that piggy backing on another brand won’t do anything for Joe is an absolutely ludicrous claim. Co-branding and cross-promotions are tried and true marketing techniques. To argue to the contrary reveals an ignorance on your part of basic branding and marketing strategies.
Talking about doing the box art, I would love for Robert Atkins to do the Joe packaging art. Dammit Hasbro do something with this property!
Okay buddy go revive Joe in the Fornite brand, good luck. Great idea that’ll fix everything. Let me know when the movie and toys come out.
For someone touting their arguments as being based in logic, you ain’t very good at it. The exact same snide nonsense you just posted could apply to your position. Basically, it’s more meaningless dribble. Let’s break down the premise: Use video games to revive the Joe toyline into a mass retail, not collector specialty brand. So, you are seeking video game players that also buy mass retail toys. Fortnite is not only the most successful game in the market, but it’s only one of two video game properties (Overwatch being the others) with a mass retail action figure line. Therefore the Fortnite players/action figure consumers are the very demographic you are after. That’s how you utilize logic, not by spouting really, really, really, REEEEAAALY dumb arguments like co-branded partnerships or cross-promotions wouldn’t work. Just dumb.
In the meantime, thank goodness for these guys! https://www.marauderinc.com/ Once I have more time I'm planning to customize some proper homages to fill in gaps in my collection.
This news article should go to the Movies forum, but seems on topic with some of the discussions here. Another Joe spin-off movie announced supposedly featuring Chuckles. Second ‘G.I. Joe’ Spin-Off Will Feature Undercover Specialist Chuckles
I kind of like Chuckles, but this is like making a new Star Wars spinoff staring the ice cream maker guy.
I just gonna guess that adding GI Joe skins to Fortnite isn't going to do much for GI Joe. The only people who would care are already GI Joe fans. If anything, it might make Fortnite more popular when Joe fans who never bought the game end up buying it because of the new skins.
They have good fill-ins for Lifeline, Lift Ticket and more. I might get the SWAT guy since 25th Shockwave wasn't all that. Might check their Valkyries out for a good Scarlett stand-in.
Regarding 6 inch Joes, I'll say this: I would take a nice Mega Construx GIJoe line over a 6 inch line any day. Sucks it won't ever happen, but that way, you'd get detailed, articulated figures, tons of accessories and endless possibilities for vehicles/bases. All at a price point that would be way more manageable. Not saying I wouldn't like to see 6 inch Joes, but collecting them all would just get too expensive and you can forget about the bigger vehicles/playsets. Ice Cream Soldier? heh heh heh
Depends on which version of Chuckles. If it's based on the GI Joe Cobra book featuring him by IDW, that version of Chuckles was bad ass.
My argument was never revive ‘Joe with a video game it was a response to your appallingly inane comment: “The brand isn’t strong enough to warrant its own game and there isn’t a cross-promotion with a figure line that can make it so. For the current market it’s meaningless.” Yes making the argument that GI Joe doesn’t warrant a video game because it’s brand isn’t strong enough but Fortnite is WHEN FORTNITE HAD NO BRAND WHAT-SO-EVER BEFORE FORTNITE is epically illogical. Fortnite started with nothing therefore saying a brand isn’t strong enough to warrant a video game and then reference a video game that had no brand before it became a video game is so fucking stupid it makes my brain hurt. So instead of building on a large backstory with existing character designs, vehicle designs locations and factions YOU think the best way to bring GI Joe back to life is to wrap skins on existing Fortnite characters that have no relationship to GI Joe. Brilliant. You should go apply to be the GI Joe brand manager.
Only Shipwreck can turn the tide! Constant nagging, bad jokes, hot girlfriend and a animal unfriendly parrot, what more does hollywood want???
The saltiest Joe of them all but one with a heart of gold! WILL HE FIND THE MOTHER OF HIS CHILD AT THE SEASIDE DOCKS HE FIRST MET HER AT?! Years back before ROC, The Rock was rumored to be in the running for Shipwreck. The last versions of Shipwreck were bad ass.
I think they could / should lean on his name, Hector Delgado from CA. Don’t get me wrong I love the Jack Nicholson from The Last Detail the toon character is based on but I think you could give him a little CA Latino swagger and you have a great sailor. Perfect for the times.
