Thanks for the clarification. I am old and my memory is hazy. I blame all the drugs. But Hotshot did start life as a yellow muscle car. And Bay was vocal about a VW being a dumb altmode. And the movie character's personalit has nothing to do with G1 Bee. But is pretty much spot on to Hotshot.
Back in the day when a deluxe had chrome paint. I liked my Sideburn. Honestly, I'd be fine with MP Autobot Brothers. X-Brawn always my favourite.
Don't forget on how most of the Hall of Fame line up is mostly consisted of BW characters for how well liked and iconic along with how Optimus Primal was nominated for Power of the Primes with a brand new mold and a SDCC repaint yet if even those weren't enough to make Hasbro realize that there's a lot of people who want things from Transformers other then having the same old G1 content being thrown at their faces over and over and over again then nothing will. I'm hoping to at least get a Primal Prime repaint from POTP Optimal Optimus in Selects but knowing Hasbro's bias towards G1 in general it's a safe bet we won't get even that.
I think this will happen. BW just needs to hit some age benchmark. G1 fans felt pretty left out for a long time, until "Classics".
Thing is though we're already in an age benchmark right now with plenty of fans who grew up in the BW era now have enough income to support it yet we still aren't seeing any major BW revival or at least hints of it happening. It's a good bet that the UT fans won't be anymore lucky when their age benchmark arrives. Maybe if any more news show up with more concrete proof then I'll have more faith in that happening but right now I don't and I doubt I'm the only one who feels the same way. That being said Takara still can provide some hope since unlike Hasbro they're more willing to explore other eras even when they're now in a unification brand with Hasbro. They've shown strong signs of us getting God Neptune from their new Seacon molds in the future and they Battlestar updates in Selects so it's not all hopeless. I wouldn't put it out there that they also have mind to do more UT love if their Armada Prime is anything to go by.
Yeah, until Classics it was pretty tough if you didn't like any if the newer iterations of the franchise. If you weren't a fan of whatever was going on at the time the only choice were either overpriced Takara G1 reissues or overpriced neutered Hasbro G1 reissues for the G1 fan.
In a way, I'm kind of glad Hasbro didn't try to update the original Exkaiser/Defense Hot Shot alt mode. Knowing them, he'd have ended up even smaller, and lost most of his weaponry. The other thing is, I treated Excellion and Exkaiser (and Armada Hotshot) as separate characters (it's probably the Unicron Trilogy's approach to it's characters and storyline that made me originally treat all versions of a particular TF character as different individuals), so I don't mind them being joined by a new 'brother'. It's a pretty good looking figure, so I'll be getting it. I'll say this. Hasbro should focus more on updating the Armada and Energon, rather than Cybertron, figures (for now, at least). I'm a G1 fan, but I'd really like better articulated CHUG versions of characters from the earlier parts of the Unicron Trilogy.
Sorry for spinning this thread off topic, but all in all Blue Armor Truck Hotshot was a neat figure. And this looks like a fun update of him. I'm not sure that its something I'm going to buy, but I dig it as a concept.
Hey, remember this? https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/4ade9717-2e25-4083-9c4a-a7a446d1eda4-jpeg.28346772/ The guy who got his Hot Shot said he got it from a seller in Asia, along with Impactor.
I'm thinking that surely at this point dipping into other eras would be more profitable. As you said, the kids today entered the franchise through the movies, not G1 so what sense is there in releasing G1 figures again and again when kids didn't grow up with them? What's the point in Generations when that is G1 and then nearly everything else is G1 inspired? Will kids want yet another figure based on the same design or will they be interested in the same character depicted differently? How long do Hasbro want to sell the same Optimus that transforms into the same truck where you have one version out there that turns into a fire truck? How many more Megatrons that turn into a tank do they want to sell before that sell Megatron that turns into 5 different modes? I can guarantee that when siege is over we will get another line based on G1 figures. If it sells then it sells, but why not throw in 1 or 2 figure in a wave based on another era?
look at how often comic book characters go back to a traditional costume after changing things up for a brief time. hasbro always defaulting to g1 is no different really
Hot Shot's was a yellow german sportscar, arguably one could say that he was an teenage Bumblebee. Movie Bumblebee wasn't cocky until ROTF.
Yknow, I actually messaged the guy and tried to buy a bunch of the unreleased figures, but every time we got close to closing a deal, he claimed that figures weren’t available anymore or that there was something wrong with them. Like, first, Ratchet was broken, then Bluestreak was already sold, and then Hot Shot was missing or something, and I just said screw it and called the whole thing off. Plus, someone called him out in the comments for hiding Hot Shot behind a red scribble, and he claimed that it was actually Hound behind the scribble and that the Hot Shot he was selling was an Armada original. So idk, I don’t think that guy was actually trying to sell anything. I got the impression he was just trying to show off his unreleased figures.
Looks interesting, a little weird seeing a Cybertron Hot Shot without big shoulders, but not terrible. That said, they didn't change the roof to something beefier to represent Cybertron Defense Hot Shot's armored vehicle alt mode, so I think I'll pass as I already have Hound. They almost got my Cybertron nostalgia money, the change to the backpack to seal up alt mode would have done it, but it didn't get there.
