I'm hoping for a teensy Galvatron... or even better... Armada Thundercracker, or Sideways.

I won’t be surprised if at least a tiny Galvatron is included

I agree that a bigger, more imposing Metroplex is needed. One that actually resembles the Titan that we deserve compared to the lanky sprinter we got a while back. Scorponok though would not be the way to go through a crowdfunded project. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is patiently waiting for the reveal of a Titan Scorponok to go along with the others. Releasing him through a crowdfunded project would not only make him look off with the other Titans, but I'm sure it would lead to a lot of animosity among fans and collectors if Hasbro were to release him in this manner.

I know these usually come to life in the final week or two, but I have to wonder where things would stand if this was a bit smaller, cost maybe around $350-400, and had a 10K backer goal. I feel like that would be a much easier trigger-pull for a lot of people, since the combination of price and sheer size make this a very very situational product to own (I know that's the reason it's being crowdfunded like this, but still).

I think to the major expensive toy hobby - Lego - and how the highest end stuff usually goes over with people there. There are always ways to get creative in affording the high end Lego products - you can save up VIP points, there are usually promotions where something gets thrown in, and you can take advantage of double VIP points periods at the time of purchase to maximize the value you get out of it. As of right now, Hasbro isn't throwing in a Pulse Premium membership, or any form of Pulse credit, or anything else - so the value is just the purchase (and owning a limited run item).

So here's something I'm thinking about. We know Hasbro is charging $575 for Unicron and we know that money will pay for, among other things, the cost to make the molds, which we're always told is the most expensive part of the production process. But everyone outside North America offering Unicron are also charging $575 if not more, and Hasbro is saying their numbers don't count toward the funding, so... where is the rest of that money going? If only American orders are paying for the significant cost of the molds, do Takara and Asia and Australia get a higher net profit?

This really just shows that the idea of it taking $4.5M to "fund production" is a fan-made lie. I don't recall Hasbro ever saying that, just random folks in this thread. Given that it's no more complex than other Titans figures, a majority of that $575 is just profit. Anybody thinking otherwise is just fooling themselves. Even if you consider that production costs are divided by less figures, incurring more per-figure cost, I don't believe whatsoever than it's a 5x+ multiplier.

Well I finally can say I got to back it.
    I'm number 2347.
I'm now going to save up for the Zeta which might be like $400 but eh, it'll be a fun comparison.

A good chuck of that $575 is actually shipping charges for 30 lbs of figure, stand and packaging. Probably about an average of $75 per figure. So, $500,000 of that 4.5mil number is already a fallacy.

You’re conflating two separate elements — payment up front for international backers and international backers counting towards the 8k. One doesn’t negate the other.

Except when they say that Unicron doesn't need the stand in bot mode, I guess.

Sent an email asking what numbers are applied to the 8000. See if I get a response

A Closer Look at Haslab Unicron

Ran the pics I took at SDCC through some post processing to clean them up and curate a bit.

Nothing new or groundbreaking, just a tad clearer, eye candy.

Kicking myself, I rushed over there and was still in OMG GET THEM UP mode so I forgot to switch the camera to capture in full resolution, RAW mode. Doesn't help I immediately started drinking either.

Anyway, enjoy for what they are. I personally always love resin pics for whatever reason, love how the shadows play off his planet teeth(?). :)

[In all seriousness, the mouth gimmick should be addressed because I will be playing with that thing non stop in planet mode.

This may have been mentioned already, but for me personally, I feel like Hasbro / Takara is deaf on the timing of this Unicron Campaign.

We have many, many expensive Transformers being released in the next couple of months: Masterpiece Optimus Prime (this most expensive Masterpiece to date), Seige Omega Supreme, Jetfire, Seige figures, Seige exclusives, etc. and on top of all that, they are asking me to fund a $600 project by the end of August - the same DAY that Masterpiece Prime 3.0 comes out. The amount of Transformer stuff coming out now until the end of the year - that I want - is overwhelming.

Unicron is something I want, but something has to give. And you wonder why Unicron is not gaining support.

That opening/closing "mouth" gimmick in planet mode is just f'ing brilliant. Especially love the attention to detail with the little door cruncher thing inside.

Man, I doubt I'll PRE order it, but I will own this thing.

Yes, part of collecting is making choices based on funds, space, etc... But, the point I was trying to make is that Hasbro is offering up the most expensive Transformers toy ever, during the same month the most expensive Masterpiece figure ever is being released - one can assume that BOTH figures are highly desireable by the same collector in addition to all the Seige item being released in the 4th quarter of this year.

Hasbro / Takara should have considered a different time to reveal Unicron and ask for funding - like maybe, next spring. It would have a much better chance of getting funded.
