All I did was mix regular Tamiya white (X-2) and black (X-1) to get the closest grey I could. I only needed to get a tiny bit on the tip of the nose, though. I'd used wet, very fine-grained sandpaper just to take the worst of the blotchy paint off his nose, hoping that I could do that without having to repaint it. That mostly worked except I rubbed a bit of paint off the tip of the nose and revealed the black plastic underneath, so I only needed a dab to cover that; barely more than a smear. I don't think it would match as well if I'd had to repaint the whole nose because the face has a silvery sparkle to it which the mixed paint wouldn't have. The nose is still a little rough, but not as bad as it was, and barely noticeable now to the naked eye, at least.

You’re absolutely right. Although it makes me wonder what Streak + looks like with those eyes unpainted. Cursed perhaps?

Thanks for sharing the insights. I was wondering if you’d used a pearlescent paint. Still trying to find something for mp36

    Finally got him! :D
I’ll take more pics later or tomorrow when I have time, some rough and ready shots first:

He looks amazing. I love the shade of grey they’ve used. The effects parts are really awesome.

Definitely overall looser than any Datsun before. And yet certain parts are unusually tight, like the waist, the thighs, part of the knee joint. The looseness doesn’t affect too much, except the shoulders a little bit.

The paint is so nice, though. The colours look so good, I love the shade of red they chose as well. The painted thighs make quite a difference, too.

I got mine in the other day and I have to say I'm so impressed on how much a paint job, new headsculpt, and effect parts change a figure. This is the best Datsun to date and is one of the best Autobot MPs to date. They knocked this one out of the park and it makes me very excited for MP-44, 45, and 47

Maybe they heard the complaints from 17+ who was overly tight and overadjusted.

@Sam - so happy for you, man! Not even jealous! Love this sequence so much - what a brilliant use of the graduated laser blasts!

Thanks brother! Yeah I tried to get the same pose and angle in the three shots but I was doing it in a rush with no tripod, just lining up grids. I'm really loving this guy. Also, an advantage of the unpainted barrel is that he can hold his gun like in the first pose with no worries about paint scraping. I'll try to get some better shots tomorrow, have the whole day off to mess with him.

Thanks pal! Remember I can't change my profile pic until you do, I'm waiting ;)

Oh btw, did anyone else get two of the same attachment? Instead of the attachment for MP-44, I got two versions of the attachment for the regular rifle. This is actually totally awesome for me, since I was initially under the impression that that's what the extra piece was, and was pretty excited by that.

Since I'm going to be picking up a second copy of 18+ anyway, this means that I can have three rifles wielding the regular attachment (Prowl, Bluestreak and maybe Smokescreen? Or one of Ironhide/Ratchet's guns?).

Also, these definitely look like blaster effects and not booster effects, so I was never gonna need two of them to use for Prime/Sideswipe's jetpack.

The only thing is, I've gotta make sure I get the MP-44 attachment in my next one. And also, now I'm gonna have to pick up my second copy before MP-44 gets here!

That pose has always been an option with Prowl/Bluestreak :thumb

Anyone have advice on how to remove the cap on the larger blast effect? Mine is on super tight and I'm afraid if I use force to remove it I'll break the large effect...all the rest of them came apart super easily so not sure what to do here.

Put both thumbs and forefingers as close as possible to either side of the seam line, and push up or down. Shouldn’t be any risk in breaking the part, it’s pretty thick.
Alternatively, try twisting at the same time. Just avoid pulling on the thinner blast part.

Or else, try to pry them apart with a blade or something thin and hard.

Mine arrived today! Couple quick shots for now. My face paint is excellent. Only defects I see are on the front hood near the bumper. 7A536C67-937D-4FFB-8AEC-B983AA9C9AB7.jpeg 7BF92D92-4747-4255-9D58-A3B74CB66A2A.jpeg 46F637C0-33B1-4213-B043-330A26E425C5.jpeg 6C739217-24A8-4C67-A226-F1E62CDCC18E.jpeg
