Honestly, teaming them up with Transformers might be a good way to revive them a bit. Kind of like how in comics they'll sometimes bring in new/new versions of old characters by having them teaming up with a more popular character - this happens in Spider-man comics a LOT and then if that does well they can try their own separate line.

Honestly I don't know much about GI Joe's more recent toyline attempts but comparing to a similar thing from another toy fandom I'm part of, LEGO, you have older fans demanding a new traditional Castle line except when they have tried that in recent times modern kids just... don't buy them. Then they did NEXO Knights which was a sci-fi blending with the classic Castle line, honestly it feels a lot like a kid friendly take on Warhammer 40k in some respects, and that lasted the full 3 years that most LEGO themes that are not classed as 'Evergreen' ranges can hope for.
I suspect something similar is going on now - modern kids just not that interested in a line that is too much like normal soldiers with a few gimmicks and not enough adult interest to keep a line afloat. Honestly though I had never read GI Joe before the Revolutions crossover in IDW and I do wonder if something a bit more like that might work, especially if they maybe rolled in elements of MASK and some of the other similar human centric themes. Maybe even take a nod from the popularity of superhero movies and play them up more as a tech based super team than a military unit? I dunno, just spitballing here :D

Okay. If that's your view on things.
I'm glad you are willing to move on.
Let's agree to disagree, because that playground discussion was neither here nor there.
I like your idea about siege compatibility.
Because we are still getting CW and TR style figures. One thing I liked to see when CW started was a Thunderwing shell retool of Silverbolt with a retool of the legend class seeker mold that can attach to his cockpit in altmode and his chest in botmode.
If the inner robots split apart into a jetpack and armor that would be even better.
I still think an approximation of this would be the most fun way to update Pretenders.

That would be great. I'd prefer legend class, but micromaster class would allow for transportation, so that's great.

That's the problem with the armor up update idea.
They'd have to make sure the armor can form the shell creature independently of the inner robot or it won't be a fitting update to the original Pretenders.
That's why the inner robot can't be bigger than legends.
The shell creature has to be a independent articulated and preferably transforming figure

I think Titan would better match his intended size and stature (more Devastator than FortMax, but still very big), but Commander could have the added feature of using CW ports for the limb attachments.

I’d love for a Tidal Wave to have a weaponizer aspect so you could combine him with Megatron.

Hoo, yeah! Been hankering for a Titan class Dark Fleet after the PS game and the introduction of the size class with Metroplex!

I actually wouldn’t mind at all if they brought back the micromaster bases. They won’t though.

Speaking of micromasters, I think we could have combiners at the leader class. Here's why. A micromaster pack is 10 for 2, and a leader is fifty. So, that'd be 10 micromasters at 50 dollars. Considering the old ones were only 6 bots, we wouldn't need the extra 4, with their budget either spread among the others to find a way for them to combine, or, like the old ones, use extra peices to make it. If we go the extras route, we could make micromasters cross compatible, and have a way to mix micromasters into the combiners, as the extra pieces would be the holding frame to put them in, giving kids a reason to get'em all. They could produce multiple combiners that way as well. Food for thought

I never thought of this but I like it. This might sound dumb but this reminds me of the vehicle team on Voltron.

nice reference but i was actually thinking of how the old micromaster combiner tech like micromaster devastated or superior. Updated into modern times, this definitely seems plausible. The micromasters even have screwholes already, to be used as pegholes for combination

The shellforming-ness of the Siege WFC Seekers makes me wonder if they'd try and reshell them with F-15 parts. Or slightly modify Optimus to make his "Cybertronian Truck" mode into an Earth Truck. Or do slight remolds of any of the 1984 cast in Siege to achieve completely cartoon-accurate G1 goodness.

I know I'd want a new G2 Tank Megs that isn't just a repaint. Heck, maybe make the next Optimus transform into a G.I.Joe vehicle to counter the Cobra-made Megatron this time around?

Why is this thread still in news when the rumor was debunked?
