The DOTM Prime + swapped ab piece and Jetfire. I really don't like the shiny ab piece, so I just cannibalized the one from the ROTF figure.

So the Prime isn't the same color as that ab piece? Weird. I wonder what happened there. Maybe a last minute budget cut? I notice there are a couple other minor paint apps missing that are present on the preview images (yellow on the axe, dark grey on the guns). But definitely makes me happy I got the other Prime was well.

No, no. SS Jetfire comes with an extra TF1/ROTF ab piece specifically for this Prime, in case you didn't buy SS32 Prime. But it's painted metallic red instead of the normal red.

Yes, I am aware. That is the piece I am talking about. My point is that it would appear, based on that piece, that there was an intention for the leader Prime to be a metallic red at some point but it changed between the production of Jetfire and the production of Prime.

Silver paint pens are inexpensive and easy to use and I recommend every TF fan have one! That being said, I'm really glad they just did it themselves cause it would have been silly af to not have them painted.

I agree, what brand would you recommend? On that note, any idea on what model paints work best on the current plastic Hasbro use? I want to completely do over all the full grey on the DOTM Prime.

Honestly, I think that I would have accepted the abs not to be painted if it meant that all of the other stuff was fully painted like in the early/box images.

The abs could have been done by myself easily and it’d be less work.

Gundam markers and/or molotow. If you get silver, gold, red, blue, and some panel liners you’ll be covered for most situations.

That’s noted, and I’ve dabbled in panel liners before. I currently use them on my Siege stuff and oh man they really pop. Seems like they were intended for it.

I haven't met a figure yet that didn't benefit from a little panel lining. No need to even do every single line, just areas with a lot of molded detail.

Yeah, I think the Studio Series line can really come to life if it’s done right.
