Read it. didn't learn anything new really, but I'm glad a lot of what I've already been saying Unicron was Validated. XD

Kind of wished they asked a bit more about if any design changes were going to be made for the final toy (mostly to ask about the beard), if he was subject to any safety standards, what made them decide on toy colors rather than movie colors, and other such specific questions. Though it's a decent interview overall, just wish more people stopped gawking at the spectacle and asked more poignant questions. It is good to know that it'll take 10 to 12 minutes to transform (though the first time will probably be an hour or eight).

I never knew that apparently Hasbro has done this crowdfunding deal before in 2018, by making a 4 feet long Jabba's Barge from return of the Jedi. That was funded, but Hasbro never reissued it or made more copies. (though that one only needed 5000 backers)
Star Wars The Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna) – Hasbro Pulse
So likely, the 8000 Unicrons is all that we will ever see as well
Also, seems Hasbro has been working on this toy for 18 months now!!!
" The back of Unicron actually opens up just like he started to covert in the '86 movie with his fists. His fist, start to open up." - so likely we can pretty much recreate his transformation from the movie. :)
Also they confirmed he does not need the stand in robot mode, just for more dynamic poses. They had it so the people at Toyfair would not knock him over. :D
"Yeah, you need to stay in the float unless you have magic. If you have Cybertronian magic of some sort, that planet will float without the stand. But in robot mode, you actually don't need the stand. We haven't here, because a lot of people are banging their heads on the glass to get close to it. So he would not be yet standing. But some of his poses, yes, we need to stand in robot mode. If you want to lift the leg, you kind of give him like a lunging pose, of course you need a stand. But for most of his poses, you don't need it standing in his ankles rock."
They also estimate it will take 8-12 minutes to just transform him... Which is not bad, I think MP Megatron (first one) takes me as much time... and ROTF Mixmaster took me half an hour. :D

Yes we do. TONS of info. Like that he can stand on his own in robot mode (stand not needed only for more dynamic poses), 50 points of articulation, they have been working on him for 18 months, and will take 8-12 minutes to transform.

Very interesting that Unicron is not a partsformer. Interesting in that it’s not a partsformer (well done hastak) but also surprising that someone from Hasbro knows the term “partsformer” AND is critical of a transformer being one.

"And I can hear everyone start to like play the the Unicron death march in their head from Vince Decola like jamming synth music as they do that."

fuckin, they know us so well.

i wonder how many times the people designing this guy listened to that fuckin song themselves! lol

Right now it\'s stands at 2,196 backers but it was at 2,198 couple minutes ago.I feel this thing might not make it at all unless Hasbro open up to Europe and on Takara side they should add there pre order to the backing.

What if Unicron stalls at about 3000?  And in the end makes it only to 6000.  You think they will extend the deadline until Xmas?  From the time that this toy is preordered to its actual release date is still over a year away.  You think Hasbro will do that?  And it looks like the Cookie Monster is DOA.  I think they used the wrong muppet as a lauching pad for these dolls.

yeah, i honestly never understood deadlines for things like this. why not just run the campaign until its funded, (because it obviously WILL get funded given enough time see as how the number of backers is pretty steady) then an extra month for stragglers, then start production.

why is doing it this way an issue?

I read this last week and it’s part of the reason I backed it. They’ve obviously been working on it for a while.
