I think mine comes out to $322 shipped due to the exchange rate.
I keep up with this thread, the Hound thread, the Bumblebee thread, the MP Spec thread, and some appreciation threads. Too much time on my hands :D
Peolesdru is the master, he does these amazing stop motions. I’ve been following him for about a year and a half now. He does the transformations, and I follow @OptimusTimelord ’s videos for action scenes.

Gah, I can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on MP-44. I feel like I need to see a comparison of it against MP-10 to tell me it's justifiably that much more in price.

Blasters Blues today, and there's a pretty nice longshot of Prime lying down before he's carried off onto Omega Supreme. Someone with the DVDs can do a rotated and stitched together version. Definitely echoes what @RetroElectro said on the last page (excellent post!) about the different angles and bevels of the cartoon design really being brought to life in the MPs better than they were usually drawn (though here's an example of them being drawn pretty well).

I posted this in the MP-47 thread the other day but should've posted it in here too. Thanks to @process's great photo and his premonition of an MP-44 stock pose, we have a pretty good comparison of the two here (MP-10 holding MP-1's gun):

In a nutshell, while MP-10 looks like a modernized version of Optimus Prime, MP-44 is essentially the cartoon's cartoon model if it decided to step out of the TV and be in 3D.

Also, MP-10 looks really great with MP-1's ion cannon. How would it look on MP-44?

Weird thought: if we end up getting a toy-accurate MP-44+, what if the voice box ends up with Peter Cullen voice clips (not that I expect it to happen)?

I'm not sure if MP-44 could hold MP-1's blaster. He seems to have identical fingers to MP-36, and if his palm is also the same size then he won't be able to hold it properly (since Megatron can't really, I've tried!)
The voice box is the same between MP-36 and MP-36+, so I wouldn't expect any changes there. Cool idea, though. And don't say if we get MP-44+! When we get him ;)

A lot of us would be happy, but like you said, it is unlikely. Now with the brand unification (which apparently means releasing a TT product in the states with a sleeve box on top) is even less likely to ever happen.

Personally, I think that whole thing is a mistake. But then again, what do I know.

100% with you, @RetroElectro ! Excellent assessment. Couldn't have explained the beautiful subtleties of MP-44 better myself.

@Sam - Blaster Blues! Another of my favorite eps! Terrific animation that had to be done by the same team that did Day of the Machines (among many others) due to the clean, dynamic angular drawing and the abundance of low angle 3/4 shots. Prime really kicked a lot of ass at the end on the Moon ("I've never been to the Moon before!" lol @ Spike and Carly), and what really struck me was I don't remember him having any dialogue in that scene (I guess no one should have - they're on the Moon!).

Man, I'm nuts about the shoulder articulation on this guy! Hoping he can do that pose he did so often on the show where he'd cross his arms across his chest and have one hand under his chin, deep in thought.

You might be able to pull that off in a photo using angle tricks, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for the real deal.

Yes, Prime's a bit of a mute until he wakes up on the moon just before Megatron (almost) blasts him. There are some great drawn scenes, and I also recognised the reused transformation sequences from Jazz's famous roll-out call in MTMTE. Down to the frame! So maybe it's the same team who worked on the pilot?

Megatron can pretty much pull it off without any cheats, and I think Prime's butterfly shoulder range is maybe a little better than MP-36's (though that isn't actually the most important joint for this pose). I'd say Prime's arms being even neater than Megatron's should help it look great. A quick try with MP-36:

So, a forward looking head would suit this pose better.

Thing is, unlike MP-36, MP-44 looks to have similar thumb articulation to MP-43 Megatron. You haven't experienced that yet, Dean, but it will totally move his thumb out of the way giving it plenty more clearance for this pose. That means he could potentially touch his chin with finger and thumb, despite his hand being further away. Can't wait to see you try it out in just around a month's time :thumb

I'd rather have no voice box if it would've killed the large backpack and most importantly, cut cost down. Each time I look at an MP Prime, fond memories of Peter Cullen voicing him come through and that's enough for me. Plus I very, very rarely like electronics in my figures.

Guys, I’m out of control. Just ordered the MP-18+ Streak and Ocular Max PS-01C.

I still need Iron Hide and Ratchet MP bots
