And the Transformers movies & video games have completely stopped. WTF happened? One minute they're pumping out billion dollar movies & now there is nothing. At least Bay was actually producing new movies. What do we have now? And why the fuck didn't they ever make a sequel to Transformers Devastation??? It's like the entire franchise just suddenly disappeared. :tumbleweed:

Devastation sold like shit. I could find copies at local Walmart for the equivalent of 15 dollars not even a year later. That game appealed to nobody other than weird geeky 40 year olds.

War for Cybertron's studio literally blew up and became nothing but DLC-help for other bigger studios like Bungie after their Deadpool game flopped.

Hasbro's own studio is only a mobile-gaming studio, they do not work with console gaming.

The entire franchise "disappeared" but it wasn't sudden, we had 4 games in a row underperforming.

Not even us. Transformers shouldn't be some kind of weird fighting game, it's a shooter. The whole game franchise steadily died when they moved away from PvP. Right now, FoC PvP was the high point of the gaming part of the franchise.

I know it's only your opinion, but that's a bit of a narrow view. The franchise is diverse enough that it can fit into a variety of gaming genres: FPS, RPG, fighting, beat 'em up, platformer. It could probably work within the racing and puzzle platforms as well.

It's pretty hard to say no when people are constantly pushing you to make another movie and throwing wads of cash in your face to do it. I do agree though, DOTM should have been Bay's last movie to close out that timeline.

It’s mainly quiet this year for the brand. But it’s confirmed the first part of the WFC trilogy is releasing next year and a game is in development. You seem to be overreacting. Plus it’s better if they aren’t rushing out anything. After TLK there was a lot of damage.

I wholeheartedly agree that the movies should’ve ended after DOTM (I do realize the irony in my words given my username and I wish I could change it but oh well). However, be honest. If you were thrown huge amounts of cash to make another “robots beating up each other” movie, wouldn’t you take the opportunity? I certainly know I would.

Nobody's complaining about Nazis in the UK, it's mainly why it had to be SPECIFICALLY that house. There's a completely different building that already served as a Nazi headquarters at least three times to kill Hitler repeatedly in Dr Who.

I think you're being absolutely unfair to people who DONT like PVP.

The whole Winston Churchill thing was weird. He claimed Churchill was going to be a big hero in the movie, but he wasn't. I think he was mentioned as a Witwicken, but nothing beyond that. I wonder why Bay felt the need to film the Nazi headquarters at Churchill's house?

I remember at one point there as a leak that claimed time-travel was involved in TLK (the same leak that mentioned Merlin, Excalibur, Sqweeks, Cogman, etc). There were all sorts of theories that some sort of alternate-history thing was going to come into play. I sort of wonder if that was the case in the original script (or one of the three scripts that was merged), but it was cut because Nazis literally taking over Churchill's house would have been too controversial. That might not be the case, but I'd love to know what was cut from TLK.

If you guys really think the gaming media would accept us back after all the lazy Activision releases then I have bad news for you. If you look past the fans and just focus on the general gamers, you'll realize that there's nothing we have left that they would want to see.

The only way to get a "good" and successful Transformers game is if Hasbro pledge their rights to Sony.

It didn't insult him at all since the scene had several Nazi's (the things he hated) get massacred outside the building. The people who owned the building didn't care that Bay wanted to do the scene, in fact they were pleased someone wanted to do something with it at all. That's probably why he feels bad for taking out the window.

All in all, the only people who were insulted were those who went to go see the film, and Micheal Bay, but I'm pretty sure he's used to the angry comments on message boards by now. Hey, we got some cool designs though!

Ha ha, right. That makes sense.
I'm sure Hasbro is already working on that.

It wasn't just that the movies clashed with what Transformers fans wanted. They weren't fun and exciting.
Fun and exciting movies have characters that are fun and exciting.
The Transformers movies just have people running around screaming.

In a way that makes sense; Michael Bay sense at least.
Think about it. There is no way that scene works in the context of real world history and there is no way that scene works in the context of Michael Bay's own Transformers fictional world history.
It is a perfect snapshot of everything wrong with that film.

All the lazy Activision releases? I guess the idea of a good TF game is subjective because the only lazy Activision TF games that I can think of are the ‘07 game, Rise of the Dark Spark, and Devastation.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Hasbro pledge their rights to Sony because, with the exception of Days Gone, all of the PS4 exclusive games have been pretty solid. But I don’t think Transformers games should be console exclusives, especially at a time when the only way to enjoy a Transformers game is on your phone. When Hasbro finally gets off their lazy butts and gets a console game made, it should be on every console, not just one.

Man, please don't say that about Devastation.
It may not have been your thing, but it was not a lazy effort.
Platinum put a lot of care into that game -not just how it played, but how it felt.

I get the feeling that a lot of people who say Devestation was trash are people who don't really understand what Platnium Games specializes in.

I mean, they made Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising. Kinda a dead giveaway that the game wasn't going to be a TF themed shooter.

I guess I shouldn’t have called it lazy. But it just simply wasn’t my cup of tea and, to me, wasn’t that great of a game.

I get that. Platinum's efforts aren't for everyone.
They make the games they want to make and are only concerned that the games sell enough -they set out to make what they feel are good games not necessarily hits.
They hired as much of the original voice cast as they could. To me, the game seems like how I remember an episode of the G1 cartoon more than how any particular episode actually was.
