I've been eyeing MOTU stuff for years since the original toys and I have a few here and there but never really bought in until Mega Construx. I think it is the perfect size and price point for me to dive back in.
It's similar for me. I loved MOTU when I was a kid but hated the articulation, especially after GI Joe and Transformers came along for me. Smaller figures with better articulation (GI Joe) or smaller scale (Transformers) was just much more appealing to me than MOTU had been. But it was my first 'real' toyline, so always held a soft spot for me. When Classics came about, I was kind of interested, but they were just too big for me. I like my figures to be 1/18 or smaller, with MC at roughly 1/36 being just about perfect (aside from the chunky proportions). So when MC-MOTU started appearing, I was hooked.
The mystery Donatello package came and..... Mega Construx Heroes Donatello Micro Action Figure | Walmart Canada It was STRATOS Sure man whatever. My whole thing was I wish I could physically walk into a store and buy them, which I have not been able to since the stores in Ottawa do not appear to stock them. I’m on the other side, I hope he does have that lovely patchouli smell. I don’t think Moss man was scented though so you’re probably going to get your Wish.
Wow, didn't realize there were folks who didn't like it that much. While I love it, I'm okay with it not being included if it means more people can enjoy him. I can always light a candle when I'm feeling nostalgic
I basically watched all of Pixel Dan's MOTUC review back then (I think 2012/2013?) and kinda became a casual fan through osmosis. MOTUC just seems too problematic for me (loose ankles on earlier figures, just... awful paint mishaps, especially on the more recent S7 offerings). I don't remember if it was before or after Mega Brands was bought by Mattel, but I was familiar in their improved QC, plus the fact that they seem to have no problem with doing the whole MOTU line, AND keeping the action features intact, it kinda makes it a no-brainer for me, who doesn't really want to shell out for MOTUC. Of course all that being said, I still can't get over the awful names some of these characters have haha Oh, right, I forgot Moss Man had a scent too; I thought he was just flocked. I was wondering how they would do a Man-E-Faces though. I could see a Lego-style head working real well with the face changing.
My custom M-E-F has has a working head gimmick. I think MC could pull it off pretty easily, as long as the budget is there. It'd take a slightly different body (one that has a hole in the neck instead of the ball joint, but then they could reuse it for Mekanek like I did to give him his extending feature) but otherwise, not too bad. (sorry for quality, took the pics some time ago and didn't really stage them right) And reused design for Mekanek:
I think YOU need to show them what you did/offer suggestions by messaging Kevin on the megaconstrux forums. It can't hurt and you practically built the prototypes for them already!
The Mega Construx version of Moss Man is not scented like the vintage toy. The SDCC set came with an air freshener. These things are so tiny I’m not even sure it’s possible.
Oh they had the concept. They just never came out with it. If more people had bought the set, they might have expanded the line.
They said MOTU is getting their own MC Heroes waves with unique packaging. They also showed off the upcoming Game of Thrones sets and said there would be more but they had to choose two lines to feature at SDCC. I'm sure the current MC Heroes waves will continue along with Halo and COD. The did say Destiny was done for now though.
Thanks! I actually post on the MC gallery. Surprisingly, my M-E-F custom is, I think, my only MOTU custom that didn't get a staff pick badge. I haven't watched the video, but the only thing I've heard about going forward is that next year's Heroes releases will all be MOTU, except for one wave.
I'm not too upset about Destiny being discontinued, I pretty much have what I wanted from that and could care less about the games characters. There were some pretty cool sculpts though. I'm happy with them expanding MOTU, lots of fun characters to do. I do hope they do some other properties still though, gives better veriety.
I'm really hoping they do more with the Aliens stuff, maybe add in Predator as well. Lots of potential there. And I'd love to see them revisit Assassin's Creed
That would be a big old nope. Kevin said that next year we are going to be getting 6 waves of heroes, two of which are exclusively MOTU consisting of 5 figs. So Series 6 will be MOTU and then after that however the other waves are going to be arranged. We're still getting MC Heroes that are mixed bags of franchises no need to panic. It's just Mattel/MC understand the popularity of MOTU and are giving fans a bit of a treat. They wouldn't need to since they've already got the full cast from MOTU to She-Ra already modeled. We learned that at last years Powercon.
Man Kevin is really cranking out the previews this week. Final production sample of the Hermes Hammer Power Pack slated for early 2020 release Master Chief Overshield the first figure preview for Halo Heroes Series 11.
So this pretty much confirms they've done away with the old Hero stands. I'm not sure how I feel about that. These new one are easier to pose the figure on, but I like having the symmetry of similarity more so.
