This is gonna be a controversial topic but please let's keep this as civil as possible. I'm doing this comparison because I can find enjoyment in both shows but they both focus heavily on a certain yellow Autobot which always causes me to think about one while thinking of the other.

I'll give my thoughts first,

Robots in Disguise:
*Characters - While some find the characters annoying, I find them quite enjoyable. Sure, Fixit has his glitches, Strongarm and Sideswipe fight, and Grimlock isn't always the brightest but I feel like they fit well with their characters and work well for the kind of dysfunctional family dynamic the show was going for. Bumblebee had a great arc in Prime and it shaped him up to be a great and enjoyable leader here (even though it would've been cool to see Smokescreen in such a position). So its pretty enjoyable and funny to see his interactions with these younger Bots. But again, it feels like a family. Families have more mature members who try to help the younger ones grow despite it not always being the most fun thing to do. Families have members who bicker and argue and this fits well with Sideswipe being that rebellious guy who doesn't follow orders well and Strongarm being a cop-in-training who doesn't take well to those who break orders. People were annoyed by this but again, it makes them feel like a family. Same with Grimlock (who may not say "me Grimlock" but he's still adorable, funny and awesome in his own right) and Fixit who gets the smart guy job done with some added comedy. While most of the character development is through lessons, by the end, Episodes like "Get a Clue" and "Five Fugitives" show Strongarm coming into her own as a police bot with us learning some interesting stuff about her past and her impressing her teacher. "The Great Divide" and "Collateral Damage" show Sideswipe embracing family and friendship and we get to see Bumblebee fully finding his place as a leader by series end.
Later additional characters like Drift with his students (which is also a pretty fun dynamic to watch) and Windblade's cool attitude but loyalty to her mission/destiny and her team (even if like Smokescreen the destiny aspect disappears). While many fans find human characters annoying but I found Russell and Denny had a fun dynamic with the Autobots and were even helpful many times in helping them complete missions while staying undercover. But their father-son relationship is heartwarming and a joy to watch. The biggest problem with our cast of heroes was that the team seems to struggle with having a large main cast. Characters like Windblade and Blurr (who had a great relationship with Sideswipe) are written off the show far too quickly and characters like Bulkhead and Jazz don't get enough time for us to see how their dynamic works with the Bee Team. Sometimes, Russell and Denny are under utilized and/or feel like a second thought. The Prime humans contributed well in the finale while the Clays don't even have a place in RiD's finale. And as for Optimus, his dynamic as a spiritual mentor for Bumblebee, training to fight his own battle was enjoyable to watch. But once he returns, rather than continue with the enjoyable dynamic of a once powered up leader weakened to the level of a team player, Optimus s rushed to recovery and written off the show only to return whenever a gimmick toy needs to be sold. It makes sense storywise but again, Optimus' role at the beginning of S2 was unique for his chatacter and I wish we could've seen a bit more of it.
While some found the "Decepticon of the Week" concept to be bad, it was very enjoyable to me. We got a unique character with a fun design almost every episode and it was fun to see what ideas they came up with. Sure, the remodels they started doing late Season 2-Season 3 took away some of that originality but the character personalities still stayed mostly fresh. Cons like Springload, Quillfire, Underbite, Fracture, Thunderhoof, Clampdown, Kickback and many others stood out and were fun to watch. Steeljaw was an intimidating, cunning and fun main antagonist whovwas a nice break from the basics with Megatron. His attempts to form a pack amongst the Alchemor prisoners and desire for a homeworld for Decepticons was fun especially with us later learning he actually grew to care for Earth. We even got some cool returning characters from Prime like Starscream who got an amazing arc at Season 2's end and Soundwave. My biggest disappointment was the corrupt council who were interesting but got so little time to be fleshed out.
Other than that, the characters were awesome and aided by a fun, dedicated voice cast. We got an interesting break from OP vs. Megs and I loved meeting unique characters. It was actually very interesting to see what unique methods they employed to bring in new characters after the Alchemor was gone.

*Story - RiD might be very episodic but its cop show theme not only gives us fun time with characters but the story is actually carried through in fun and unique ways. We were watching Team Bee capture a new Decepticon almost each week but there is a larger story there and while it could use more focus, it develops nicely. My biggest flaws are that some unique or fun plot points such as the Away Team, taking on only some aspects of scanned vehicles, Russell's friends, Grimlock's vehicle mode disguise, Mini-Con's linking with Autobots, and especially combining are far underused. It was fun to see experiments done with combining but I was really hoping to see more Combiners, and some of the toy Crash Combiners appear. It wasn't as bad as "Beast Hunters" only having three (living) beasts and two debuting at the end, but "Combiner Force" could've done far more with combining. And again, many characters are either under-utilized or written off too quickly because writing a big main cast is difficult. While I like the open ending because it established a potential to revisit this world for more fun stories on both Cybertron and Earth, but again, S3 had a bit too much filler so by the time we meet the council, they're already defeated. I wish we could've seen more of Team Prime or even Megatron but I enjoy how the show tied back to Prime.
Overall, fun story but a lot of filler and under utilized cool stuff.

*Animation - Some may like it, others not but overall minus a few errors, boths Bots and humans look really nice with some great designs. Some models get reused but there's some really unique ane cool designs in there. Fights are mostly fluid, well done and impactful making them fun to watch. The backgrounds are also pretty cool for what they're going for and its an overall not bad looking show.

*Overall - Robots in Disguise isn't for everyone but its a great Saturday morning cartoon with great characters, a dedicated cast of great talent, fun stories, fast paced action and a lot of heart. Its well worth a watch and rewatching it is a fun experience.

Cyberverse:
*Characters - The dynamic between Bumblebee and Windblade is a joy to watch. Bumblebee starts out slightly annoying but grows to be a fun character who I enjoy watching. Windblade is cool, confident and caring towards Bumblebee and its almost as if they're siblings. Teletraan X is like a funny combo of Wheatley from Portal and KVN from Final Space. "Not crew" is a very enjoyable running gag. When it comes to the other characters though, I can't get into them as much as I want to. This is a very unique take on Grimlock, Shadowstriker has a deep story and the Seekers are kind of cool. But the acting and writing hurt any love I can have for these characters. Some are better than others like Windblade and Grimlock and Jeremy Levy does an awesome Bumblebee (when we can hear it normally). But so many of the others are either trying so little that they sound like they're reading instructions on how to put furniture together or trying a bit too hard and sounding like they're fake friends in high school pretending to be excited when someone they're not really friends with is talking. Nothing against the cast, i'm sure they're great people no doubt but I'd rather here Jake Tillman's own take on Prime rather than his best Peter Cullen impression which makes for a very clunky incarnation of the iconic Autobot leader. I don't blame it entirely on the actors, the material they're given isn't always the best. Many of the characters who leave the Ark barely have any character. They probably will get some in Season 2 but for now I have no reason to be excited about anyone but OP waking up because no one else has much of anything established for them other than pre-existing love for them from having watched or read past media with them. Most of the Decepticons range from sort likable and interesting to hard to care for. Megatron sounds like the kind of generic growly big bad one would find in a recent Power Rangers season. Starscream is like a high school bully you're working with on a project who is trying to act like he cares when the teacher walks by. Overall, the main characters we start with are pretty fun but everyone else is... ehh. Also, while many will disagree with me and find human characters annoying, I find they provide an interesting dynamic with the Autobots and give our heroes personal connection to Earth so they'll have a personal reason to fight so hard to defend it. While humans are abundant in RiD and provided an interesting, all be it silly challenge for the Bee Team, Earth is nigh baron of non-Transformer life in Cyberverse. Like there's stuff on the planet but like one kid they left in by accident during the editing process. I commend the focus on Cybertron and the Transformers but how can I feel that Shockwave is threatening all life on Earth when there's little to no visible life on Earth. I feel the Transformers could clash in a large metropolitan area and no one would be around to notice.

*Story - I've seen this before, many a time. War for Cybertron, crash land on Earth, missing Allspark. Plus, its 18 Episodes just to setup the foundation of the average Transformers series. Its an interesting version of this story and I really enjoy the memory aspect which gives some very intriguing bits of characterization but it feels less like they were going for their own thing and more like an animated list of Transformers easter eggs and references. Its a retelling of a story told before with only little done to spice it up from past versions. Not to mention, the 11 minute runtime. Many shows have recently changed from 22 minutes to 11 minutes but only some get it right. Transformers has very deep lore and it often feels like by the time the episode has started, its ended. Either way, there's some fun to be had but it just feels like a drawn out G1 premiere with elements from other shows. I well enjoy G1 but I don't need to see it again. There's some fun to be had here and there but a reference checklist isn't the most enjoyable thing to watch. Hopefully this changes during S2 but still.

*Animation - A mixed bag. Scenes on Cybertron are absolutely amazing and incredibly well done. Earth however is so generic and boring, void of much of anything to breakup the monotony. They could've had it take place on any planet and it'd have absolutely no significance because if it weren't for the occasional proof of industry existing, it could be any planet. I'm not a fan of the Evergreen designs because everything being unified takes away from the uniqueness that once covered toy shelves. I love G1, Prime and the comics but I would've rather had some unique designs. Generations exists to give us updated versions of old designs, new incarnations of the show are fun because they introduce new aesthetics and concepts. However, I know not everyone feels this way and I will admit, they at least look good animated even if the action sequences leave a bit more to be desired. So, I'll just leave it at fine, though the Cybertron scenes are far more appealing than anything on Earth.

*Overall - While I enjoy Cyberverse for what it is and am hoping to see what Season 2 brings, the show has many flaws. I have no doubt the people behind it care about this franchise but the series feels like someone was reading a list of popular Transformers concepts and animated it. The characters need some improvement and the dialogue could use some major work. Actually, everything could use some major work but its still something I'll watch when I'm bored. Some things like the runtime may be a bit to fix (though if CN could at least pair the Episodes up like Ninjago, I think that'd help with the awkward feeling created by how little airs) and while S2 is showing some promise, the trailer is filled with poorly written and voiced dialogue. They could use some work for sure but at least they can write a friendship as engaging as Bumblebee and Windblade. Hopefully the show improves but that's a long mountain to climb

Anyway, that's my very lengthy take on the matter. But how do you guys feel, I'd love to here a different opinion or see how you guys feel about it in general.

 

I'm okay with Cyberverse cause I've started to look at it as an above average web series instead of a mediocre TV show. Context, yea? Its a solid intro show to get new fans interested in the franchise...

But it's a little bland, especially compared to RID which was very vibrant and ambitious imo and really hit a great stride in late Season 1 it more or less kept up.

 

Cyberverse is decent, but RiD 2015 had the more interesting characters and a much more creative plot.

I also felt the bickering moments between Strongarm and Sideswipe felt very natural (ala the bickering of Beast Wars and Beast Machines), kinda like real quarrels between siblings. So yeah, I overall consider it a vast improvement over TFP.

Yes, both RiD 2015 and Cyberverse are simple, fun shows to watch, but I give RiD 2015 more points thanks to creativity and quirky, fun characters.

I wouldn't say either is my favorite. But I prefer RiD15, for more interesting Cons, better runtime, better pacing and a more coherent story. Unfortunately, the humor doesn't always work and it can be a bit cliche' and boring.

CV has potential, but it's squandered by short runtimes, an obnoxious main character and forced mood whiplash. I do appreciate that we got to see Cybertron as it used to be, before it went to hell in a handbasket.

 

RID ‘15 by a mile.

It was the only toon that made me like Bumblebee. That alone is a huge achievement in my book.
Better main cast, a Grimlock that doesn’t suck, more interesting Decepticons, a lot more vibrant & energetic, returning characters like Soundwave & Starscream brought some serious gravitas with them, and it was just more fun & entertaining.

Cyberverse is ok at best. I don’t hate it, but I’m only watching it cuz it’s Transformers.

 

I honestly prefer Cyberverse. I dislike the design direction for the “Decepticons” in RID, I dislike the character non-development, I dislike how they took Prime and essentially undid all of the consequences, I dislike the human sidekicks and how every other human is basically suffering from lead poisoning, I dislike most of what the show did. it just wasn’t well made in the slightest from my point of view.

 

I'm not going to actually place a vote in the poll as I haven't seen anywhere near enough of Cyberverse to give it fair assessment. I really only watched RID because of its connection to Prime. I guess I would describe the series as "watchable". It was worth watching once, but not anything that I would be interested in rewatching. I mean I liked it, but I didn't love it. I will give it points for originality though.

 

Like I said before, it's comparing apples and oranges.
I'd give my thoughts once Cyberverse had run its course.

 

Both shows have a certain charm for me, with some drawbacks.

Robots In Disguise (2015) managed to focus on concepts like Minicons, Combiners etc, give us a look at some unique incarnations of characters e.g. Grimlock, Steeljaw, Windblade etc. But some seasons felt like a drag, since several episodes did feel like filler, and the endings for season 1 and 3 felt a bit rushed.

Cyberverse gave a great insight into Cybertron, and how life was like before and during the war. The large variety of characters that appeared or were referenced in the show was great as well. But I’m not completely sold on the art style, and I wish there were either more episodes or a longer run time for each episode as pacing does seems to be a bit of a problem.

Both shows may have their critics, but I enjoy both of them, and you really can’t go wrong with watch either of them.

 

Dude. RiD '15 was such a slog for me. Due to being shorter, it allowed Cyberverse to get to it's point

 

Normally, I'd wait to do the same, I even said I hope it gets better later but while I think Season 1 has its ups, it had a lot of flaws and since I had more fun watching RiD and Cyberverse replaced it, I wanted to see how the rest of the community feels so far.

I still enjoy Cyberverse to a degree and hope it changes my mind. I'll probably update my thoughts following S2, but I'm just not the biggest fan of how the show started.

 

RID 2015 was the show that got me really into transformers and while it had it's cringy crappy moments it will always be special to me. I like Cyberverse, though the character designs and motivations are a bit too simple to me.

 

Denny Clay , Grimlock's voice and ( dare i say it ) colour , Sideswipes head and Bumblebee's neck and ears will always be reasons why i didnt like RiD2015 .
Silly reasons , i know .... but i found them really off putting . That and the decepticons being for the most part useless .

Cyberverse has a better cast and designs i prefer , but i do wish there was more going on in the background on earth and that there was more than one human to be seen .
