I don't disagree. But really if you're going to paint is won't be too much tougher even if it's colored.

The hardest part of painting transformers is getting at all the parts. It's much easier with the model kits (as long as you do the major painting before you assemble).



Also, I have to say I'm shocked how much I like the new Prime after they painted him. I really didn't like the grey pre paint version. Still not positive I'll get him, but chances have increased significantly.

 

I mean maybe just for more creative decos you could match colours easier than having to do it on multiple surfaces. Plus it’d probably be more encouraging since it’s not an established character.

 

I mean realistically you should use a primer on any surface for maximum paint adhesion and colour consistency. A competent paint job would take exactly as many steps regardless of the base model's original colour.

Yes. Windblade, the IDW ones, and the beast commanders are all other artists.

 

So I'll assume drift is some one else too?
