It did, and it was fairly empty when we were there, so there was a lot of space. But from what I remember, most of us found the BBQ to be average and not that special (not that it was bad). If Chad wants to go all the way there, another option would be Black Finn - we ate there maybe a year and a half ago. It was pretty empty at lunch time, but there were lots of tables and was decent.

We sure we talking about the same place? That day we left the guys seemed like they were pretty happy with the place.

 

The thing with most BBQ is it is good in general, so it takes a lot for a BBQ to really stand out from the pack. I don't remember anyone saying anything like "wow, this place was great". For that matter, I can't remember the last time the group felt some place was universally great.

I didn't mean to say anyone was unhappy with that place. I remember ordering the burnt ends (which were good, but a small portion), a white chili (which was good too), and another side. They did advertise a burger or sandwich of some sort that looked very good in the pictures, but no one ordered that.

By the way, if you do want to check out a really good BBQ place that stands out, go to Smoking Kow - they have one location in Alexandria and another in Falls Church. I've only been the Alexandria location. Their pulled pork packs a lot more flavor that most BBQs and all of their sides have something unique about that, such as their jallepeno mac&cheese, their cheesey grits, coleslaw that has some cherry pepper in it, and others. Sounds like lunch today...

 

Bonchon is universally accepted as great. If it isn't, don't tell me, because I am not sure I want to live in a world where people don't love that chicken.

 

I thought so too, but the last few times Bon Chon was suggested, there were increasingly more groans. Personally I love that option, so maybe we can go back to it in the future.

Nope. I wasn’t tracking it until a few days ago. Would be interested in checking something like that out someday though.

Bon Chon is fine with me. But that new BBQ place that was mentioned has me intrigued. Taco Bamba was mentioned somewhere along the way too.

 

My complaint with non chin is that we’ve gone there the most out of any place. At least 4 times. I like trying different places and in general prefer non chains.

I thought we were going to do District BBQ in Dunn Loring because Chad was good with that.

@neeral36 - if you were referring to Smoking Kow, their Alexandria location has a tiny parking lot (maybe 4 cars can fit). I don't know about their Falls Church location.

 

I'm okay with district bbq since I have to come in from doing something in Vienna earlier in the day on Saturday
