I'm going to get the deluxe version no doubt about it hands down. Since its like $63 dollars on Amazon and its around my B-day so its a B-day gift to myself anyway. I really can't wait to get this after seeing the couple of pics they are showing on the page. This to me is going to be the ultimate book of all books on Transformers. I've bought a book by him (author) before but can't remember which 1 at the moment. I personally think he's a great author just like the others I've bought from that did a transformers book.

 

...no word yet what the prints might be?..i'd pay serious money for high-quality wall pieces of the original box art from '84, '85, '86, and '87...

Is this book going to have a significant amount of pages dedicated to Bayformers and other CG artwork? Not that I hate such art, but it's not really the thing I want to spend money on and have taking up physical space. Maybe I'll wait to see if the book goes on clearance like the Covenant of Primus did, or maybe a digital version.

 

I want a lot of bayformers art, but I'd prefer it to be concept art and not so much CGI as well.

 

I\'m a huge Bayverse fan but making the cover feature designs from a god awful film was just a bad idea and doesn\'t really scream Transformers Art book. I think a simple G1 Autobot and decpticon Symbol would\'ve done just fine. I don\'t hate it, I just don\'t love it.

Other than that this book looks really bad ass, an I can\'t wait to get my hands on it. LOVE the art that\'s featured in it.

 

 

Speaking as one of the more anti-Bay movie folks out there, I have to assume that any book devoted to demonstrating the history of the franchise would HAVE to include the Bay movies to a not-insignificant extent.

I do hope it's not too much, though.

 

Yeah, I would be fine if the book was only 10% or so non-G1 stuff, but if it's going to be 40% or more then I'll probably cancel my pre-order.

 

It's the visual history of Transformers. ALL of Transformers.

Transformers is NOT 90% G1. So you will be disappointed and I will be thrilled.

 

Are you...are you serious? It’s the history of the entire brand. Transformers isn’t just about Geewun.

 

Of course TFs is more than just G1, that wasn't the point. The point is what I'm willing to spend money on.

 

Still doesn't make sense to come into a thread about a book that's very clearly about ALL of Transformers, just to essentially say "I only want G1 stuff". Geewunning at its most basic.

 

LOL, no. I first came into this thread asking how much CG artwork was going to be in this book, because it wasn't clear how much would be in it.

 

So long as the book has lots of great pics and good representation across the brand, I'll be happy. People who don't want to see a significant amount of live movie stuff are bound to be disappointed considering 1) the live films pretty much re-energized the brand and 2) there are six of them, so it's not as if they're going to get some insignificant amount of coverage compared to G1 and the other toons, comics, games, etc. The book should have enough across the board for everyone to enjoy. I'm glad the deluxe version got cheap enough for it to be an easy decision for me to choose that version to preorder.

You have every right to spend your money the way you want. However, you shouldn’t be surprised when you say out loud that you expect a history book to acknowledge mostly only one thing while giving very little to no acknowledgment to other things and people laugh at you.

 

Come for the CGI bashing, stay for the non-G1 bashing.  

Anyway, as @AOEGalvatronRox said, you're free to spend your money how you want and that's OK, but your comment was a bit weird.

See, I'm all for "TF is more than just G1," but I'm definitely put off by having the Bay-verse robots be the ones to get the cover.

It's not enough to make me pull my pre-order, but it's definitely a disappointment.

 

Thank God for the limited edition slipcase.
