So not debating the premise that it IS based on G1 characterizations and history, using G1 designs, and telling what is essentially their own version of A G1 origin story, but obsessing over the use of the word "prequel" instead of "origin"? Guess that answers my earlier question.

Also manage to breeze past how it couldn't work as a TFP origin story, I noticed.

I’m not obsessed over the use of either word..it’s that they deliver entirely different messages

Prequel and origin aren’t always synonymous and certainly aren’t on this case

And I wasn’t “breezing” past anything
I wasn’t part of the conversation you were having about TFP , I’m also only vaguely familiar with that series/continuity family

So I don’t really have anything of value to contribute to that conversation

You know, I had a long response composed, but it's just not worth it. You've no interest in defending your stance, just attacking mine. Ignoring.

I would love to watch a remake of the g1 cartoon. The cartoon's flaws, although you could argue that they're a part of it's charm, are the cheap animation, the cheesiness, and it's inconsistencies. A redone version would improve on all of that.

They would probably go the cel-shaded polygon route, as hand-drawn 2D animation is too time consuming and costly. Think of the Dragonball FighterZ game to imagine how cool it could turn out.

Or, since this is all just a hypothetical what-if scenario, they could redraw and touch up the old original hand-drawn art from the old show, again like the DBZ Super tv show, or the Evangelion 1.11/2.22 films.

It could be a more modernized update, such as the Resident Evil 2 Remake videogame. Which is my preference. Or they could embrace the nostalgic 80s cheese, and go like the animated Adam West Batman movies. Peter Cullen has said in an interview that he would love to be in a G1 reunion special, will all of the old remaining cast.

I feel like Hasbro is kind of already actively doing this. They want everything to have a retro G1 design and feel. The Bumblebee movie, the Siege toyline, Cyberverse, the current IDW comics. It's all very G1 in an aesthetic sense.

This is kind of a silly question. Like 80% of the people on this site would say "yes"

    I want it to happen.
There have been better written transformers shows.

But none have been the same thing as g1.
I want the huge rotating cast of characters. Like justice league and old g1. I dont want to be suck watching the same 5 autobot fight the same 5 cons with some times guess appearances.
I want watch the g1 had where we had an episode of outback and blaster vs predaking. And gridlock making the technobot the next

Teen titans. Heman. The ninja turtles ...twice. gi Joe all got really solid reboot series. Why can we get one for g1

And I would like them to make a good g1 remake show and then move on.

Ninja Turtles I'll agree. But the updated He-Man show, like the attempts at rebooting G1, left out the fun cheesy aspects, so it fell flat just like Dreamwave and IDW for me. The Thundercats reboot was equally bad. Voltron was ok. She-Ra is ok but just doesn't hold my interest.

But when was there a Teen Titans reboot? Unless you're counting the 1960s Filmation shorts as the original and the CN show as the reboot?

We could have a modern take and approach like the animated series again but not a entirely reboot, i'm done with these reboots.

What’s your definition of an “entire reboot”?

I really don’t see a middle ground on these things unless there’s some kind of a time travel event that changes history

Literally everything that has ever come out is a G1 reboot...

I'd say yes. Make sure the animation is better. Have the characters have better-defined personalities/characterizations. Have plot progression. That sort of stuff.

Humanity had reached its creative zenith before the year 2000.

The last 19 have been a slow creep of repetition, regurgitation, and any lack of innovation beyond the technical end of creation. "I can make a stick look REAL in this program, just like the real thing." Trying to supplement in their minds what was created before them, as if it would give them greater purpose and control over what they have, and the perception that reality is theirs to control and remake beyond the environment within the walls of society.

Which is a fallacy, and a denial of facts.

...what was the question? Oh, a remake with better tech?

    1. A director with a clear vision on how to interpret the source material.
    2. A combination of hand-drawn and digital complimenting each other and the CGI not overpowering
the scenes. The latest Mazinger film could be an example.
    3. Sincere voice actors that aren't personalities like a ***king PIXAR movie. The actors voices match with the characters they are playing.
    4. A test run of 12 episodes to work the kinks out of and get a feel for the direction the show will take even with having source material; how it's presented, WITHOUT interjecting modern sensibilities into the stories just-because.

Then maybe, just maybe, I'd be willing.

Very creative things are still being done.
It's more like actually creative things have always been rare and writers, producers etc have always preferred to just regurgitate what has been done before.

Having said that the blatantly revisiting old stories again and again is something I don't remember being a thing in the previous century.

And I have to disagree with Lovecraft: I'd say everything post UT (except RID2015) has been a regurgitating of the first two years of G1.

If HB can do it the way Space Cruiser Yamato 2021 did (you know, the reboot/sort off). Slightly updated 3D graphics and use the same voice actors/clips, nerdgasm!

I'd watch it as long as they didn't break the characters, they should better define the personalities of the characters and maybe even make the Decepticons relatable villains so they are more enjoyable.

It's all pretty semantic really. I'd just say that "G1 Reboot" is a little bit of an inappropriate term for what this thread is discussing. G1 was simply 'The Transformers' from 1984 to 1993 and everything else afterwards has been 'G1 reboots' in one way or another. G2 is a sequel line, but Beast Wars was a reboot in design and lore. Added sparks to the mythos and wasn't a direct spin off of any one continuity, making it the first G1 reboot in a technical sense. Beast Machines followed that same rebooted timeline.

RID01 was a reboot with lots of G1 themes littered throughout. As was UT, Animated, the Bayverse, (un)Aligned, IDW1 and 2, Cyberverse, etc. Every Transformers reboot is a G1 reboot. Why wouldn't they be?

what some people in this thread really want is a G1 Revival. Which has happened at least once or twice depending on how strict an individual fans parameters are for that.

I'd say that Dreamwave, IDW1 and 2, and indeed Cyberverse lean towards a G1 Revival tone for me. The rest are departed enough that I'd call them wholesale G1 Reboots.

Because G1 Reboot and Transformers Reboot mean the exact same thing.
