I'm sitting here thinking what's the bother? I never had them as a kid and the only one that I really, really want is Prowl. I had more of the minibots only because my family wasn't overly well off and that's all they could afford, and I appriciate the mini's more with that fact in hand. I always wanted Starscream, and I got that, always wnted OP and I got that. So, I'm content with the reissues I do have, ecept for nabbing a Prowl somehow. I think I am going to focus back into the Masterpiece scale and leave the OG's to the ones who will appriciate them more. Happy hunting everyone and I hope you are all able to get what you want.

I recently purchased a Masterpiece "Streak" a month ago and he is awesome, i just leave him in robot mode on my display. I'm actually in the same boat, though as I've never owned Prowl either and therefore am considering adding him with my "Streak". I also want the MP Smokescreen as well since I've never owned him either.

 

I've never had a G1 Soundwave(aside from the MP). Anything to watch out for, like certain fragile parts, joint looseness?

 

Not really, he's pretty tanky. I guess the door mechanisms could historically be problematic in the long run, although I think there were modifications done with previous reissues to alleviate some of the breakage issues there.

 

Same experience I had, except I didn't bother talking to the employees.

 

the tape door is clear plastic and thin and tends to be fragile, and more over time from age
And with the original G1 SW, the door's hinges, inside door's release lock and tabs that holds the cassette in place, are the common parts that break.
The inside tabs can break easily if remove the tapes are removed at a angle instead of sliding the tapes in and out.
and door lock can break if you force the door to open without pressing down on the eject button to release the lock tab
maybe other fragile part is the back battery cover from the small locking tabs.
other than that, SW is mainly block sturdy

or just use care
or don't play with SW like you're a 8 year old kid on Christmas day

 

Brickseek worked for me. I was able to pickup Soundwave and the tapes from my local Walmart. They were in a locked glass case in the LEGO aisle (so don’t give up if you can’t find them in the transformers section). As I was waiting for an employee to come unlock it, another guy walked up to the case. After I had gotten my copy of Soundwave he took the other 4 that were left. I didn’t ask if he was a scalper.

 

In honor of the release of the Walmart 35th Anniversary G1 Soundwave Reissue, here are pictures of the various Soundwave releases featuring the external button mold for comparison. I've limited this strictly to the classic blue/gray G1 Soundwave character, so have excluded Soundblaster and his reissues, Shattered Glass Soundwave, and Linkin Park Soundwave.

A few things that stood out to me about this release:
- Mirror finish stickers (very cool, but seemed to start peeling off after just one day)
- Silver metallic (vs gray) forearms
- Flat yellow (vs metallic gold) cassette door border

 

The time marker sticker is on the included sticker sheet

Bartfortmax. That was me. I got two for me and my cousin. One to open one to close. Glad collectors like us got them. That store at least keeps their locked  so that it doesn\'t  look like it went and had rounds with blaster. For me and u tonight.

Still nothing showing in stock on brick seek in the RI area. I always find it odd that I live the next town over from Hasbro and things seem to take the longest to get to my area


u forget  these are made in china. So technically  states closer to the Pacific  should get them faster

 

I found 5 Soundwaves in the Wal-Mart on the north side of Spokane, WA!!

 

Still nothing in stores or on Brickseek for Central MA.

That makes sense. I still hate it though.

 

U guys if there\'s  no second shipment. This might be the fastest sellout. I saw one store on bricks eek in a matter of one hour go from in stock to out of stock.

 

There will definitely be more shipments. No need to create panic. I have one Wally with 30 Optimus still after selling out and being restocked twice after.
