Only one Walmart in my area shows any stock of Soundwave or the cassettes, and they don't have any out yet. Hopefully soon...

 

If what I ran into is any indication, this is it exactly. I went back the next morning to the store that said they wouldn't sell me one until the date on the pink stickers. The boxes were gone, no soundwaves were out, and brickseek said they still had 6.

 

I believe they have them in the back, which is why Brickseek shows them having inventory, but they are holding them (along with other non TF things probably) for a toy reset that is going to happen in a week or two. When you see them reset/rearrange the toy aisles, that's probably when to look out for them. Also explains the big Lego clearance going on since they are probably trying to clear out some stuff off the shelves before doing the reset.

It's so interesting to see all the different perspectives to Walmart inventory. Here in the NY area, there are literally no Walmarts in the 5 NYC boroughs or Westchester. All the collectors who live near the New Jersey and Long Island stores (and the scalpers, I guess) go there during the week, so by the time the weekend rolls around, everything is gone. So many members are saying G1 Optimus is overflowing in their aisles. I've never even seen the vintage G1 Optimus, Devastator, Starscream, Bumblebee or Outback in an actual store in NJ/LI. Expecting the same for G1 Soundwave and cassettes.

 

Walmart hates New York or New York hates Walmart. Shrugs.

 

Well, partial success, today. Found Rumble and Ravage. No Frenzy and Lazerbeak and no Soundwave, although there was a sku for Soundwave.

Lol...true. Gonna keep after it until I track the others down. Still think most of the other locations in my area that “have them” according to brickseek, still haven’t put their’s out.

 

I passed on Optimus until it hit $25. I'm a sucker for Shockwave as he was probably my favorite G1 toy as a kid. It will be an instant buy when I find him and his minions. I still have My G1 Shockwave and tapes from the 80s and they are beat to hell from hours of love and battles.

 

Funny how he was your favorite, but you get his name wrong...  

 

So the Walmart I went to (North Houston) supposedly had him in stock. Didn't find him. But! I scored these little freaks instead. They were on a clearance peg marked at $4. I new it was too good to be true though, cause they actually set me back $40. The markup on these reissues is ridiculous, but I've wanted a G1 SW and cassettes for too long to say no. Its a wierd feeling of nostalgia picking them off the shelf. I was born in the late 80s so wasn't around when these guys first came out. But just seeing that crisp retro packaging made me feel stuff lol.

 

My Walmarts show they're in stock, but nothing has been put out. Can't get any workers to help of course. I'll try again this evening.

Is it just me or did Hasbro shorten the tips on Laserbeak's weapons?

 

Yep, safety concerns. Pretty sure it was like that on the TRU reissue from years ago but I could be wrong. I remember seeing that before now though.

 

Shockwave is just so awesome that autocorrect probably thought he meant Shockwave and not Soundwave.  

 

Yet it is packed in the same container as a figure with guns that have barrels longer than those on laserbeaks original weapons (albeit thicker)?
