Got Starscream on the Prime Day deal, it's an interesting figure, I don't dislike the vehicle mode compared to how most pictures portray it - if the legs were just a little more tucked away or smaller it'd be really solid - and the transformation is quite interesting. Packaged transformation is wrong in 2 ways that made the figure seem like a mess, I suggest reading the instructions on this one to get the neck plate right (it's not complicated, but the packaged version gives a very wrong first impression). Robot mode is a very different G1-inspired Starscream with tall shoulder inlets and a leggy look, reminds me almost of a manga version while still remaining true to the character. The battle slop paint is the real drawback, just too much of it (and that exact same pattern is getting repeated on all the repaints coming soon, ugh). The chest on mine doesn't pop off easily, thank goodness. I am not sorry I waited for a sale on this figure, but I'm glad I have it. If you like Starscream this isn't a bad figure to get, but if you aren't tremendously attached and only want one of this mold, it might be wise to pick the exact character or color version you want. It's a mold worth having, but not everybody will need every version of it.
...it's a Starscream. Apparently we desperately needed another one of those. I have Redwing coming, maybe the improved joints will impress me more.
Starscream with Siege Thundercracker's head. Definitely an improvement. Starscream now feels more like himself. Makes a great looking figure even better looking.
Fans have been wanting tetrajets since forever and when we finally get one someone gotta ask "where is his earth mode", lol Give it time, like Rattrap said.
I just got this figure myself. Just a few thoughts I'll leave here: Tetrajet! I mean, this for me is the real draw. Ever since I was 5 years old and saw that cool space jet design, I wanted it realized in toy form. I even remember playing with my Thundercracker and trying to make the wings to form a tetrajet shape. It's nice to finally see some wizardry to pull this off rather elegantly, relatively speaking. The scissor transform of the robot intake engines is a "Masterpiece moment" as we've said in the past; it's a very nice little surprise. Greeble and other detail! When I first saw official photos, I was really concerned that it would be a bit too greebly. It...kinda still is, but it's not nearly bad in person. I think it works overall. If anything, I do think that the "space dirt" does work against this figure, but not nearly as bad as some others. I do think the faction symbols could be done better, but I'm planning on getting the Reprolabels set from Toyhax anyways. Starscream! But, oh buddy this is Starscream! The poseability is great, the colors are right...there's so much done right to this character with this figure than not. I think the null rays could use some work, but that's a nitpick, really. Starsream looks great overall, and it's a very solid release. It's certainly a recommended figure from me, especially if you love Seekers and Tetrajets! I'm wanting the other 2 and the Rainmaker set now.
Siege Starscream is who got me back into collecting Transformers. Awesome figure! I can't wait to get Thundercracker from BBTS so I can do the smirk headswap
Mine has the same issue (it'll stay in place if standing however), so I'd like to know if it's an easy fix as well.
Crossposting from my submission on Reddit, Siege Starscream chin surgery - I didn't feel like a chin bump is accurate for the G1 character and was too Armada so I removed it with a file and repainted.
Something I've been wondering about: the two tabs on the grey flap behind his head. Can they be clipped off without hurting anything? Why are they even there? All they seem to do is cause the intakes/Tetrajet front end parts beside the flap to push down on it, forcing his head to look upward. All three of the main Seekers I have have these tabs, but I don't see what they're meant for, and it only seems to cause problems. Has anyone else gotten rid of them without any undesirable side effects?
The flap is there to fill the gap between his head and the backpack. The tabs fit snugly into holes in each of his pylons so that it stays in place. If you're transforming the toy properly, you won't get the situation you describe.
Ah okay. I think when I got them out of the box they were mistransformed, so I assumed the flap just folded all the way back for the transformation (Skywarp was at least, since I noticed it before transforming him). I did try to bring it straight out a while back, but I must have misaligned it since I couldn't plug the pylons in. I just tried again and it worked great, so thanks for pointing that out!
I initially got 1 of these months back but 1 ankle wouldn't tilt and I believe the incorrect feet were put on. Flash forward today where I got one where both ankles tilt and the chestplate has yet to pop off. I was hesitant since the deco kind of bored me and I was debating on Thundercracker or waiting for Earthrise Starscream instead. However I've come around to these being modernized versions of pre-Earth figures and I fondly remember the episode where Starscream's history with Jetfire was revealed. So with that, I decided I would get this AND Earthrise Starscream. Alt mode transformation is more involved than I thought. For the most part, it's solid in jet mode. It's compact...pics may lead you to believe it's too small but the overall mass definitely makes it a voyager. Robot mode is where this figure shines. It's the best robot mode of any Starscream I've handled and is more poseable than MP3/MP11. I hope Earthrise Starscream is just as poseable since this figure raised the bar pretty high for a Starscream figure. The lightpiping is great. The mouth has a line slanting to the right..smirk, unintentional, whatever, it's different from Thundercracker and from the neutral face from the earlier SIEGE Starscreams I've seen. Note that recently I've seen some with mouth lines slanting left or right. Makes it look angsty. This is one of my favorite SIEGE and Starscream figures.
Not a big fan of Siege Screamer. Thundercracker and Skywarp don't have the problem with the chest falling off during conversion the way my Starscream does, and I think that they wear the mold better. He looks and works better than the PotP Starscream and has better proportions, but that's faint praise. The toy isn't terrible, it's just mediocre in the broader Siege line, IMHO. I'd only recommend him if you get one where the chest doesn't come off, or if you are going completionist with your G1 Season 1 Seekers.
